I hear people saying Slayer is great for combat and money, but is it?

Like realistically in a week, whats the highest slayer/combat level I can get? bear in mind my master is the lost city one..

Whip on shared is not the best way. Crapier on str till 99 then att to 99 then defense to 99 is the best way. Slayer is not good money. Its around 80-100 k xp/hr combat average (certain tasks are higher or lower).

If you don't have a Crapier go get one while farming herbs/dailies/Mtk for cash to fuel slayer costs (gear, cannonball, etc).

Worth highlighting that Crapier means Chaotic Rapier (and is more often referred to as just rapier opposed to crapier) and that is is obtained via dungeoneering; also it requires lvl 80 attack to use.

Whip on accurate until 80 attack, then going for a chaotic rapier would be best. But controlled isn't that much worse I think, especially if you're new to dungeoneering.

Slayer is not great for money by any means, but it's good combat xp. With a black mask, slayer helmet or full slayer helmet you get a full sixth bonus to your attack & strength level - that's turning a 305 hit into a 355 hit (roughly, rounding etc. can change that). You also get that bonus to ranged level and magic damage, which is nice (but ranged is faster chinning).

Slayer is bad money and mediocre combat xp.

If you care about slayer/max cape then you definitely should do slayer as you'll only have to do it later, when the combat xp you get will be useless to you. But if you don't, then you should avoid it like the plague as it unlocks nothing worth having* and there are better alternatives for both money and exp. (Keep in mind the QBD update is bringing another slayer related dungeon soon, so that may make it useful to have in future.)

*

Level 35 + 300 slay points unlocks ability to make broad arrows. A fast but expensive way to train fletching.

Level 55 unlocks broad bolts which are good if you want to do cheap crossbowing... But why would you do that? Chin for xp, use rune or better for PVM/PVP.

Level 95 unlocks gano beasts which are quite good money. But there are better ways to make money that don't require slayer so they're obsolete.

Level 99 makes running into soulgazers in dungeoneering much more common, which means you can get a hex much easier... But the slayer requirement isn't needed to wield the bow. You can just go on a team with someone else with 99 slayer and get one in a relatively short amount of time. Plus you don't really need to worry about getting a hex until you're max combat and 100+ dungeoneering.

The only real useful one is the broad arrows, but that's only useful to near maxed players that value their time too much to train fletching more slowly for less cost. It's also not even the fastest way to train.
