Best places to use Iron titan/Yak/Steel titan?

Featured Replies

I'm basically looking for something that vastly improves once you have these summoning creatures.

I have charms for 95 summoning at the moment and my main reason to use them is to unlock iron titan so i can kill waterfiends faster, and thus get 99 summoning faster.

Main reason for yak is that it's just a general improvement over tort for all of runescape, especially important for bossing, also useful for frost dragons. (I'd like a list of things that become much better to camp when you have yak banking, not limited to combat or money making, although these are welcome too.)

Steel titan is for Waterfiends/Glacors/TDs/Revs/Multi pvp such as SW... This is the main one I'm struggling to find a use for, i don't really care about any of these as the main reason i do the first 3 are for charms which become meaningless by the time i have it, and the latter 2 are just for fun and will be done very rarely if ever anyway.

i see your slayer level is 80 .. the steel titan has some uses for slayer (you could use the range xp too).

but yeah besides slayer i think the other place where the steel titan has significant value is at tds.

That's true... I don't have any reason to currently train slayer but if they make it useful to have it should certainly come in handy.

Pack yak is great at aberrant spectres and DKs. Pretty much anywhere you get a high frequency of useful drops pack yak will do.

Those with a little bit of knowledge are more dangerous than those with none.

Steel titan's just an upgraded iron titan basically-- it doesn't have to be within melee distance to attack, it gives you 5% more melee defense, and its spec does 33% more damage. If you ever play Fist of Guthix, the steel titan blows the iron titan out of the water simply because it ranges by default (people can trap your iron titan behind rocks). When you're using SoA on an opponent and constantly dishing out 400+ hits, while each of your titan specs hit up to 880, and your opponent can only protect against one of those, you're pretty much guaranteed to win... even if your opponent has full hybrid armor, lol. Most people die after the first titan spec because they pray magic and summoning, thinking that's enough. FoG is fun when you're in God Mode like that :P

I used Yak in the Kiln when I got my cape for the first time-- but that's not very efficient if you're looking to farm onyx; in which case, again the steel titan is far superior to the iron titan there. Steel titan really speeds up glacor kills compared to iron as well.

Yak is also great for slayer tasks like dragons, for banking hides easily (I use bonecrusher on blue/black drags; I use yak scrolls to bank bones for metallic dragons). As mentioned above, Yak really shines at DKs. I used my iron/steel titans for specters, though, because I cared more about finishing a task quickly than earning extra cash.

I only use my iron titan now for training defense... I don't think I'll have any additional uses for it after I get 99 defense.

I was fortunate to get 96 summoning from lvl 88 very very easily thanks to the first BXPW, where you got 2.7x summoning experience. I remained at 96 summoning from the first BXPW till January 2012, and was perfectly content with my iron titan-- I used it as much as possible (basically the same way I now use my steel titan). The iron titan is a huge step up from all previous combat familiars. Before iron titan, familiars will add like 15-20k experience worth of damage per hour if you're training with one. Iron titan adds at least 40k xp/hr (DOUBLE) with a charged helm; at least 50k/hr manually using scrolls + helm; and even more if using summoning pots on top of that.

IN CONCLUSION, just get your summoning as high as possible. You won't regret it :P

Steel titan is for slayer, tds/glacors, Armadyl god wars, Kiln (highest consistent gp/hr in the game, other than leech floors/merching).

Yeah, with onyx crashing so hard recently i figured kiln wasn't going to be best by the time i get 99, but it seems to still be quite good, and it's obviously never going to be truly terrible, unless a new gem with better stats is released (not out of the question)

Arma is interesting, but i totally see what you mean. Slow kills with no real danger of death vs something weak to range, seems perfect... But i fear it's still too slow to be practical besides doing for the fun of it.

i think quyneax means it for the kc if you are ranging.

Pretty sure she means on the actual boss, if you're using it on KC you've already lost the ability to use a BoB once you get to boss, and at that point you might as well use it over uni. Either way, arma sucks balls so I'm not too concerned. :P

I've noticed no one ever uses titan on nex... Why is that?

Not sure, as I don't Nex; but from what I've seen from videos, I guess Nex DPS is high enough that you need constant healing in order to get a decent number of kills for it to be profitable.*

hmm well even soloing it's debatable whether a pack yak is better than a uni. in teams of 2+ obviously unis are better.

i guess maybe a steel titan is better after you run out of your bob if you are using one though..

Yeah I'd assume uni is more useful... But I've NEVER seen titan at nex, i mean I've seen titan at bandos and corp before, people just do stuff like that for the fun of it. In fact, if you could manage just 1 kill with titan, it probably would be better, as you bank so fast theres little benefit to camping multiple kills... So i assume nex is invulnerable to familiar damage or something?

CNqWHdA.jpg

Titan on Nex messes up the kill, apparently the AI reacts to it.

Steel titan @ Arma is both for KC and the boss room. It kills minions for additional food & armour drops. You can also use a unicorn instead.
