MSN Virus

Its not technically a virus , its known as "spam-ware" most adware scanners will detect and remove it for you .

All it does basically is spam a link when you send a message to somebody :P

Sister installed one of these unintentionally once. Was a pain to remove as it disabled all antivirus and antispyware programs which leaves your computer open for bombardment from unwanted crap.

But yeah, running in safe mode and doing all the scans with up to date programs should find it and be able to get rid of it. Worked for me anyway

How about Block-checker in msn? is it a spam-ware too?

really cant say , I've seen links to these so called block checkers but have never bothered trying them , as i dont much care who has blocked me on msn. If it physically interacts with your installed copy of MSN , then I'd be weary of it and avoid its usage :)

I've only found one trustworthy site to do a blockcheck for you (forgot the name, but I remember the layout incase I stumble across it) and nothing bad has come of it. It logs you off of MSN and then you log back on after a second or two and it shows who doesnt have you added

F8 Start up is a @$$ to do if your not experienced because of the timing involved!

It's better to use the administartor option of safe mode on start up to do this!

Go to Norton antivirus sight to learn how to do this!

I think it's

RUN-> CGadministrator

or something to get to the screen!

You can only do if your an admin on your comp!

You prolly are if it's your comp!

Timing? just keep hitting f8 repeatedly when your computer boots till you see that screen. It's not that hard :? .

That "CGadministrator" code you gave is bogus, it wont work.

I don't know why you'd want to know who has blocked you :| first, people block others for legitimate reasons, second, ignorance is bliss, third, it's an invasion of *their* privacy.

I said I THINK thats it!

Thats why I refered him to Nortons site for better advice!

On my laptop you have to hold it down at the perfec time and if your press intervals are to fast begining to soon it thinks a key is sticking!

Why would you flame some one on a help advice post!

chill dude I did not flame you.

All I said is it's not hard to press f8 at start up. In your case it's different and you have to hold it. Most computers you only have to press it.

The CGadministrator code didn't work, I was just stating a fact.

That's not a block checker ;) It's just an expansion of the function avaliable in Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> "See who has added me to their contact list." You can check this yourself by displaying contacts by email and viewing by online and offline and then just cross-examining the lists. That tool may be useful, but it's not a block checker.

mess.be[/url]":2voje888]How can I see who blocked me on MSN Messenger?

Aaah, now this is what I call a Frequently Asked Question: "Who is blocking me on MSN Messenger?". My two cents: don't get them to block you in the first place ;)

Anyway, there used to be several techniques you could deploy to find out if you're being blocked or not. Some required MacGuyver techniques, others were as simple as a mouseclick. The bottom-line, however, is that Microsoft fixed a privacy bug (in an effort to outsmart Instant Messaging spam or SPIM) and now there's NO FOOL PROOF METHOD anymore to find out who blocked you on MSN Messenger. Every single block checker out there can not make a distinction between a contact that is offline or a contact that has blocked you.

Moreover, we STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST using online block checkers for MSN Messenger because we've seen some efforts collecting e-mail addresses for commercial mailinglist reasons (read: SPAM).

The most efficient way now to find out someone's blocking you is through social engineering: find a mutual contact (a friend, collegue or family member on both your contact list and the suspected blocker's) and find out (as subtle as possible) if he or she is online or not.
