Xinxan
The price on this item is currently at 52gp and unsellable. They are 50gp each at the slayer masters and soon they'll turn out not profitable to buy. My question is: what alternative bolt has made broad bolts obsolete to the point their price decreased this much? Royal? Also, is there any alternative stuff that i may fletch anywhere, with similar low-attention span? If not, is there any activity, relevant at high levels, for any other skill?(As in, previously i could literally just stand on the most remote, far-away-from-a-bank, spot on the Runescape map and skill indefinitely, as long as i had the materials on me...) Sy_Accursed
Pretty much got it with Royals.Eoc changed things up before broads were among the strongest bolts and by far the best dmg:cost ratio. Now broads have like 1/2 the damage of royals (at 1/2 the cost) so in direct buying dmg:gp is the same for both, but royals have 2 distinct advantages:1) Higher dmg per bolt means faster kills2) Ava's devices actually pick them up (where as it doesn't for broads) This means in the long run royals cost less because you get more than 1 shot per bolt without having to waste time picking them up AND the faster kills for slayer or w/e means more kills an hour which means more profit per hour. As for other things to do I don't think there is anything in the same vein that is profitable. 1 Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
Vezon Dash
I'm pretty sure that Ava's devices pick up broads.... Broad bolts are still decent if you don't have access to a weapon that can shoot royal bolts, but you'd just be better off using a Crystal Bow at that point. Sy_Accursed
I'm pretty sure that Ava's devices pick up broads.... It doesn't; it never has because they aren't metal enough (which of course makes sense when arrows have a worse wood:metal ratio -.-) and it's easy enough to see when using them.Task with broad bolts you end up with like 5+ bolts piled up under each monster + equipped bolts go down 1 per shot.Task with Royals you end up with like 1 or 2 bolts under monster if any + equipped bolts go down 1 like every 3 or 4 shots. Quyneax
Abilities don't require ammo so bolt costs are down in general. That heavily favours (relatively) expensive bolts. And royal bolts are cheap to begin with. 1 Supporter of Zaros | Quest Cape owner since 22 may 2010 | No skills below 99 | Total level 2595 | Completionist Cape owner since 17th June 2013 | Suggestions 99 summoning (18th June 2011, previously untrimmed) | 99 farming (14th July 2011) | 99 prayer (8th September 2011) | 99 constitution (10th September 2011) | 99 dungeoneering (15th November 2011) 99 ranged (28th November 2011) | 99 attack, 99 defence, 99 strength (11th December 2011) | 99 slayer (18th December 2011) | 99 magic (22nd December 2011) | 99 construction (16th March 2012) 99 herblore (22nd March 2012) | 99 firemaking (26th March 2012) | 99 cooking (2nd July 2012) | 99 runecrafting (12th March 2012) | 99 crafting (26th August 2012) | 99 agility (19th November 2012) 99 woodcutting (22nd November 2012) | 99 fletching (31st December 2012) | 99 thieving (3rd January 2013) | 99 hunter (11th January 2013) | 99 mining (21st January 2013) | 99 fishing (21st January 2013) 99 smithing (21st January 2013) | 120 dungeoneering (17th June 2013) | 99 divination (24th November 2013) Tormented demon drops: twenty effigies, nine pairs of claws, two dragon armour slices and one elite clue | Dagannoth king drops: two dragon hatchets, two elite clues, one archer ring and one warrior ring Glacor drops: four pairs of ragefire boots, one pair of steadfast boots, six effigies, two hundred lots of Armadyl shards, three elite clues | Nex split: Torva boots | Kalphite King split: off-hand drygore mace 30/30 Shattered Heart statues completed | 16/16 Court Cases completed | 25/25 Choc Chimp Ices delivered | 500/500 Vyrewatch burned | 584/584 tasks completed | 4000/4000 chompies hunted

This is completely wrong, it has ALWAYS and STILL DOES work with broad bolts. Just tested it seconds ago to confirm. 1 You make it sound like running through a few level 87 monsters is hard which it really shouldn't be at your level. Sy_Accursed
Well all I can say is personal experience within the past 3-4 months it hasn't been picking up my broad bolts but it has picked up my royal bolts and I'm more inclined to believe what I have seen with my own eyes than what a wiki says when it entirely contradicts what I've seen happening. Not really to nag about it, but i was also under the impression it always DID pick up, and since you so vehemently argued that it didn't i tested it too. It picks them up, and i always used them before EoC. OT: Thanks all for the replies. I'll follow the consensus here that it's all due to royal being superior in many aspects AND the majority of the player base actually having picked up on that fact. Already sold all 200k Broad bolt unf i had for store price (before GE mid price fell under it) and all 300k bolts for about that plus a feather (74gp each). It's just odd since 2 weeks ago i was still selling broad bolts for 120gp each...
