Attack stat and F2P damage bonus items

G'day guys, I have some questions I need help with and figured this would be one of the better places to post.

My first question is about the Attack stat. Does it only dictate what weapons you can use? Or is it calculated into combat? (example, 99 attack will hit more often than 40 attack?)

My second question is about F2P items that give a damage bonus. Basically F2P equivalents to the zerk helm and fire cape. I tried using the advance search feature but you can not search for stats on items, and when you search through items manually it also does not show stats.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

With the Evolution of Combat, there are no armours that give offensive bonuses anymore in F2P, only defensive. Offense is only affected by weapons and neck items in F2P I believe (unless I am mistaken).

Your attack stat dictates what weapons you can use, on top of a small accuracy bonus (smaller than the bonus from your weapon). It will be calculated in your combat level only if it is your highest stat out of ranged/mage/attack/strength.

The arcane blast necklace now only gives a +3.5% crit bonus to magic. The amulet of power gives a +3% crit bonus to all types and a +1 prayer bonus, and team (wilderness) capes give +1.1% crit bonus.

Beyond that the EoC really shafted us in the bonuses department. Even the fighting boots/gloves from the strongholds are basically decorative now for all the good they do.

If you want to see for yourself what the best items to use are, the RS wiki has compiled a list of the armors and items with the highest bonuses: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Armour/Highest_bonuses#Free-to-play

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...
