Questions on weapons/etc.

Hi guys,

I haven't played in a very long time and I too am pretty new to EoC.

I was wondering:

1. Is chaotic rapier + enhanced enchanted excalibur good? If not, what is a good overall weapon for DPS? I have a chaotic maul too. If I need to buy something new, is there something within budget (around 5m only)

2. Are these items of any value now: dragon defender, dragon claws, rune crossbow (is there something better within my budget i mean), korasi's sword, helm of neitiznot, proselyte armor, korasi's sword?

3. Within the past 2 years, have there been any new fast ways to level smithing/farming/mining?

4. Similar to q3, are there any new semi-quick (and reliable) ways to gain money?

Thanks!

1. Yes, it will be good enough with your budget until they 'correct' Enhanced Excalibur. After which you will probably want to aim for an off hand Chaotic (preferrably Chaotic off hand claw), and use Maul in that time. You'd really want to aim for Drygores eventually.

2. Unfortunately, none of them are of any use now, except perhaps Dragon Claws. Dragon claws are used to make Chaotic Claws, so you can use the off hand part of the set to make a Chaotic off hand claw as stated in 1.

With a 5m budget, some good weapon choices are:

Ranged: Crystal Bow, Black Salamander, Hand Cannon. Hand cannon being the best, though it can occasionally explode, the cost of the weapon itself is a non-issue, and the ammo should rarely be used if you use Abilities. You'd want to aim for either Dual Chaotic X-bow or a Royal Crossbow. The latter if rather cheap, but only if you can manage QBD to phase 4 (in either case, use Royal bolts with the latter two crossbows)

Magic: Polypore Staff or Staff of light are good weapons to use with abilities, wands/book combo is kind of out of reach for you.

3. Artisan Workshop is still the best way to level smithing exclusively.

4. You could try QBD if you have Super-Antifire potions, else, I think someone else may be able to suggest a better method, although a personal favourite of mine is Barrows, which not best money maker by any stretch, but I get by doing 13-14 runs an hour, which averages about 1m per hour, but I have access to Drakan's Medallion (teleport to barrows), finished Morytania hard tasks (half prayer drain and double rune drops) and have full void.

Enhanced Excalibur has the accuracy of a level 70 weapon, the damage of a level 70 'fast' weapon, and the speed is 'fastest'. That works out to level 89 equivalent damage. Jagex is expected to fix this sometime soon, in the next half year or so.

Warbands are good training for the skills you listed.

Oh ok, can you explain more about warbands ; theyre in the wildy so doesnt that prove risky if i bring gear? What kind of gear do i use? Where can i find a group? Is there any way to find out what time the DD starts?

First post is alphabetized, look at w for Warbands, read appropriate RSOF threads.

Yes, there is some risk, but it is very small. Typical gear is a set of batwing robes and a polypore staff.

thank you

do you know which one of the warband fc's are better? they both like to pk each other

and what should my inventory look like?

another question - for summoning, is rock lobsters still a good method for charms?

also, if i do artisan's workshop, what am i aiming to do?

Since you can't buy a main hand Drygore, Chaotic rapier + ee should do the job for most things melee-related, but it would be recommended you upgrade to a main-hand Chaotic claw if possible.

to answer all Warband related questions:

http://warbandpk.webs.com/

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

I'm not sure that rock lobsters are good anymore, and they're certainly not the best. Try dagnoths (you need a cannon to agro now, I think) for magic xp and charms, or waterfiends for range and charms

hey now that the prayers only off 50% protection is there any new set up to rock lobsters?

Rock lobsters are certainly not the best. Things that are better include...

Waterfiends (range), dagannoth (barrage with cannon to draw spawns), exiled kalphite guardians (range or melee if you have drygores), glacors (mage, t8 equipment basically required), KBD (you need a well populated friends list to quick hop worlds and ideally drygores to get good rates).

There are some others but I cba to list them all. The first two are pretty much the best anyways.
