I've moved your question to the Help & Advice forum.

From my own personal experience I lost more than I gained. (In around 8 wishing wells)

"Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come."

"An imperfect man can do great deeds, and a great man imperfect ones.

I thought it was supposed to be between 50-300% return?

You do realise 50%-99% = loss right?

The return is a % of what you put in.

Putting in 1m 50-300% return means you get back 500k - 3m in rewards.

Because things are always balanced in a way that the worse outcomes are more common.

The same is true of everything in runescape.

Spicy Stews give lower boosts more often.

Crops give lower harvests more often.

Monsters give common drops more often.

That is the nature of Runescape, or any game in the same vein.
