February 11, 200620 yr I really hope that I'm not the only one that watched the opening ceremonies. They were incredible this year. I loved how they circled around the two themes of fire and ice. The pyrotechnics were absolutely AMAZING. I've never seen fire choreographed that well. A good majority of the stage work was done on rolelr skates. I thought that was very unique, but it was incredible. The music was incredible, and the little girl who sang the Italian National Anthem was adorable. February 11, 200620 yr Some opening ceremonies to olympics can be embarrassing, they do just completely random things completely unrelated to the sports. I mean why did the skaters need fire coming out of their helmet, and why was a formula 1 car brought in? Although the giant skier made up of lots of people was pretty good. Pavarotti at the end was cool also. Looking forward to watching some of the events.
February 11, 200620 yr The giant skiier mustve taken along time to choriograph  Really liked it and yeah that girl (9 years old) was pretty dam brave :)

February 11, 200620 yr I LOVE THE MOGULS!!!!!!!! FREESTYLE SKIING WO00TAGE! And i like Mens Snowboard Halfpipe, and just watching Canadian Mens Hockey.
February 11, 200620 yr I expect a helluvalot more fireworks but its still good. The Country Name bearers looked nice with their paper looking gowns and that ferrari F1 burning tire tracks was pretty awesome. :D The renaissance dance thing kinda creeped me out though... :? February 11, 200620 yr i thought it was good.. but it reminded me of a ramstein concert at some parts, especially with all the pyrotech' i thought the one a few years back was better.. they had Bjork :P this year was funny/strange, when yoko ono came out.. and peter gabreil sang "imagine" he didnt do a very good job.. :(
February 11, 200620 yr they had Bjork :P Ohh goodness. Please don't tell me you would rather see Bjork than Pavarotti
February 11, 200620 yr They had Yoko Ono, lol. She didn't make any sense :x I liked the ceremony, but it was just way too long! And the torch was useless-- all they did was touch the torch and they "turned on" the fire. It wasn't even the same flame. :/ ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring.
February 12, 200620 yr Author And the torch was useless-- all they did was touch the torch and they "turned on" the fire. It wasn't even the same flame. :/ I thought the same exact thing!!!!! Nothing will EVER beat the Summer Olympics in Los Angelas, though, when the archer shot a flaming arrow into the caudron at the top of the stadium. That was utterly amazing.
February 12, 200620 yr My parents won't let me watch the skating because "its not a sport." Those pictures are amazing though, I saw the torch under the St. Louis Arch :)
February 12, 200620 yr I saw it, didn't understand the racing car circling. Watching olympics now, speed racing is pretty cool :)

Didn't they also do that at the '92 Summer Olympics at Barcelona?
February 13, 200620 yr if your all wondering why they did alot of weird crap, its because that ceremony is supposed to repesent there past/present/future and history of their city/nation blah blah...
