Which one is better to have?

Torag's is close to 9m cheaper for more defence and life bonus, so what advantages does bandos have over this to make it worth 9m?

(This isn't a matter of money, just wondering which is better and why)

Bandos chestplate gives a damage boost with less defence where as Torags gives more defence and no damage boost

 

Basically Bandos is offensive tier 70 and Torags is defensive tier 70

Are the differences noticeable?

The increased damage and decreased defence?

And where would each be more useful than the other?

bandos is more useful (almost) everywhere. The almost being tanking at KK or nex.

As things currently stand in game:

Defensive armour blows - basically nothing is strong enough to need more defence than GWD gives, rendering barrows, ganodermic and port armours pointless.

Conversely offensive armour rawks, since nothing needs more defence GWD and Nex gear are more than sufficient and the damage boosters are useful in every situation.

 

Exception to this being tanking a couple of bosses as said above, but that's what the effectively free superior port armours are for.

So if gano and barrows are pointless, is there any decent mage armour apart from nex gear?

I've been using void, but I've head that it may have been nerfed and no one knows what the accuracy and damage boost sits at right now, is that right?

No real testing has been done to confirm it and given the rs communities tendency towards screaming "nerf" everytime something seems off to them for 10 seconds I would dare to say that it hasn't been. What did happen was it was made hybrid armor and the defensive stats on hybrid style armor across the board were made significantly worse with the last update so its not as easy to use everywhere as it was before (but it's still not bad, I can still do QBD in it with drygores and not use more than 1-2 rocktails per kill).

Yeah, I've been using it at TDs and can't see it being any worse, plus it's a lot more convenient.

The only debate on void isn't so much it being nerfed as to whether it's boost effect is actually better than the damage boost of GWD or Nex sets, an issue made harder to judge by the fact since recent EoC tweaks we are not entirely sure what void is actually boosting and thus how it works.
