Another "Should I return/am returning and need help" thread.

So I quit Runescape right around the time free trade came back mostly due to not having enough time to play the game anymore. But I have some time on my hands this summer and am intrigued by the new features. However I have heard mixed opinions on the EOC (albeit a lot of the negative stuff is from pkers, an activity I never cared much about)...so my question is, is the game worth coming back to for a while? Or am I better off staying away for good or at the very least sticking to what I know in the 2007 version?

 

If yes I could use some advice on equipment....I have about 170m to spend and am maxed out combatwise. I have heard drygore is the cream of the crop for melee weapons...but which is best out of mace/rapier/ls if you can only have one? Also are shields worth using with dual-weilding being an option? I always wanted a divine/ely back in the old days, are they still used? Could also use advice on mage/range gear.

 

Finally what about moneymaking? I always enjoyed boss hunting, particularly soloing TDs and Kree with a steel titan, and slayer too. What's good these days for a player with max stats but can't afford all the absolute best equipment?

I don't see why you'd bother starting over in '07 for any other reason that joining the max race...

 

EOC is nice once you get the hang of it, and TDs recently got worth doing again.

You can try EoC, it's pretty badly implemented, but can still be fun (hint: do not try slaying as you would in old times - that's horrible).

 

Drygore is good for melee, but for slayer, virtus wand may be better (lower tier but barrage is very good now). Drygore mace has prayer bonus, otherwise they're all the same. Offhands are 1% better than ee, so just use eee and save yourself the 30m. Shields aren't good.

 

Tds are good, glacors, KK, Nex, GWD is ok as well - GWD can be barraged which means you use a ton of runes but not a lot of prayer/food (none at all usually).

Drygores all have the same dps when using abilities, mace is slightly better with momentum but fractionally. Given that they have the same dps but the mace has a +9 prayer bonus you should definitely get the mace. TD's are good for money making because of dragon limbs (worth about 25-35 mil so compare to dragon claws before but a better drop rate).

 

Shields aren't worth using unless you are tanking Nex or KK. Just get MH and OH drygore mace.

Not sure why the OP is asking whether to come back for EOC. You have to make your own decision on this otherwise you'll just base your decision on who you talk to. Best giving it a plunge for, say a month, then making your own mind up.
