LKN
What are the best methods to leveling magic? I'd prefer something that isn't extremely costly. I have 3.5M and my level is 66. I've heard some people say Alching, but what's there really to alch for profit? I don't have a high Dungeoneering level - it's only 32. Should I train it while Dungeoneering? Basically, what should I do? "Be a rainbow in someone else's cloud"[spoiler=RS Stats]
Tempest Mike
At the moment combat is the fastest way as far as I know. Blood Barraging Bandos is great exp, but requires 92 Mage. Maging Glacors is good exp too.
LKN
Do Glacors require anything? Like Slayer, or a quest? & What kind of equipment should I be using? "Be a rainbow in someone else's cloud"[spoiler=RS Stats]
Th e Doctor
Glakkers won't be good without access to at least tier 7 spells/equipment. I would recommend superheating gold with goldsmithing gauntlets. It's over 120 k smithing and also 120 k magic exp/hr at about 4 gp/exp. Tempest Mike
Sorry, couldn't see your stats when I suggested that.Superheating gold would be the way to go, good exp and cheap.

Quyneax
If you want slayer xp, you can use grifolic wand and orb along with a burst spell & momentum to slay. It requires Desert Treasure, which requires 53 thieving, but you can get that easily and it's very worth it. It's also really fun. 1 Supporter of Zaros | Quest Cape owner since 22 may 2010 | No skills below 99 | Total level 2595 | Completionist Cape owner since 17th June 2013 | Suggestions 99 summoning (18th June 2011, previously untrimmed) | 99 farming (14th July 2011) | 99 prayer (8th September 2011) | 99 constitution (10th September 2011) | 99 dungeoneering (15th November 2011) 99 ranged (28th November 2011) | 99 attack, 99 defence, 99 strength (11th December 2011) | 99 slayer (18th December 2011) | 99 magic (22nd December 2011) | 99 construction (16th March 2012) 99 herblore (22nd March 2012) | 99 firemaking (26th March 2012) | 99 cooking (2nd July 2012) | 99 runecrafting (12th March 2012) | 99 crafting (26th August 2012) | 99 agility (19th November 2012) 99 woodcutting (22nd November 2012) | 99 fletching (31st December 2012) | 99 thieving (3rd January 2013) | 99 hunter (11th January 2013) | 99 mining (21st January 2013) | 99 fishing (21st January 2013) 99 smithing (21st January 2013) | 120 dungeoneering (17th June 2013) | 99 divination (24th November 2013) Tormented demon drops: twenty effigies, nine pairs of claws, two dragon armour slices and one elite clue | Dagannoth king drops: two dragon hatchets, two elite clues, one archer ring and one warrior ring Glacor drops: four pairs of ragefire boots, one pair of steadfast boots, six effigies, two hundred lots of Armadyl shards, three elite clues | Nex split: Torva boots | Kalphite King split: off-hand drygore mace 30/30 Shattered Heart statues completed | 16/16 Court Cases completed | 25/25 Choc Chimp Ices delivered | 500/500 Vyrewatch burned | 584/584 tasks completed | 4000/4000 chompies hunted
LKN
Hm, I'll have to give that a try after I do a few more slayer tasks. I got grotworms yesterday & ended up with a Clue Scroll that gave me 2M from the items I looted :) "Be a rainbow in someone else's cloud"[spoiler=RS Stats]
LKN
Sorry for the double post but - would it be better & profitable to High Alch? I already have over 9k nature runes that I got for free so we can take the cost of runes out of the equation. Hedgehog
Even if you got them for free, you can still sell them, which makes their cost equal to the current market price. To answer your question, no, it is not better.
LKN
The issue I am having is I don't have the money to fund for Gold ore :\ & If I alch certain items (like Maple Shieldbows) I can turn a profit since I didn't pay for the nature runes. To get to 80 magic with gold ore I'd be spending like 5m & making nothing.. I don't have a decent money maker right now. Tempest Mike
Rune daggers profit from alching (alch for 4800 each, med is around 4.5k), and I think you can get about 1.1k alchs done per hour, which is about 72.5k exp.
Th e Doctor
High alching has an absolute max of 78 k xp/hr or ~1200 items per hour. If you were to use your 9 k nature runes on alching it would take you 7.5 hours to get through them all and assuming 300 gp profit per alch (rune daggers for example) you would make 2.7 mil. So high alching you get 360 k gp/hr and 78 k magic exp/hr Superheating by comparison is going to give you ~110 k exp/hr in magic as well as ~120-130 k exp/hr in smithing exp. You can run ~2 k bars an hour so 4.5 hours to burn through your nature runes at a cost of 2.3 mil. You can more than afford that on your 3.5 mil budget. Take into consideration you'll also have MTK running and should be farming herbs every day by the time you're done superheating you shouldn't have lost any net worth at all. In exchange you're going to get almost double the total level exp and with more than half of that being in smithing which is one of the most expensive skills to train (superheating is the cheapest gp/exp right now). It's up to you but in terms of opportunity cost it doesn't ever make sense to alch. Even if you get lucky and buy something for way below its alch price in the G.E. its better to sell it at its alch price in the G.E. ad use the cash to fund other faster methods of training. The only exception is doing it to drops on slayer tasks if it means not having to bank but that rarely becomes an issue.
