What happened to rune crafting through the Abyss?

Featured Replies

I've been rune crafting all day to generate some cash, but haven't seen anyone else using the Abyss.

Is there some place better? The last time I trained runecrafting, it was always packed!

On a relative basis, at least, other methods can make faster cash. Runes aren't as requisite for spells anymore so in general the prices have dropped.

Many of those "people" that were running before were bots.

Training runecrafting used to be by, you know, crafting runes (aside from throwing a ton of cash at it and making tiaras instead). Then along came effigies (before the nerf) and runespan, which offered a lot less tedious method of training and xp that was multiple times faster.

Some people have quit or gone to '07 to do other things.

Maybe there are a couple more observations but I think that's the bulk of it.

I guess I should look into the newer methods then. Through the abyss, I was still able to make 550k/hour profit with 14k xp. That seems a lot to me, but since nobody is doing it there must be better money generating activities out there. Any tips on what they might be?

Range Rorarii. Mage Glacors. Melee(?) QBD. Not sure about non-combat money-making.

Well, let's just say that runespanning is at least five times as fast as abyss runecrafting. That means that if you were going for, say, 70k xp and 2.75m gp, you would have to spend 5 hours abyss rcing, or instead spend 1 hour runespanning and 4 hours making money - less than 700k/h is required. It's extremely easy to get 2m/h at QBD, glacors, frost dragons and such, so abyss rcing is no longer worth it.

To add to that, you can teleport closish to the blood altar using Drakan's medallion.

I would bet you would be better off training RC and runespan and then killing level 2 men for money then abyss rcing. 14k rc xp/hr and 550k gp/hr are both really low nowadays. Most high level players (90+ melees) should value there time at at least 4m gp/hr, while lower levels should be around 1m/hr-2m/hr.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

4m/hour?! Where can I get that? I have maxed all combat skills.. QBD?

Dragon Pickaxe Drops: 1 (Times after I first entered Battlefield: 2h)

DKs are around 6m/hr+ atm, requires a decent knowledge of how DKs work and hybriding however. QBD is a consistent 4m/hr and GWD should be around 4-5m/hr with quickhopping. Glacors were right around 4m/hr last time I checked as well.
