Drygores degradation

Featured Replies

When does it happen ?

- When I hit them

- When they hit me

Quite the important info if I want to do a .. hellhound task for example (or anything that gets more than 1 enemy on my ass)

It's when you are in combat aka the combat stance.

Also, as with most degradations, each enemy makes a separate count occur iirc.

E.g. in combat with 2 hellhounds for 5 minutes = 10 minutes degrade.

TBH this is a bit disappointing .. if it was for a shield or an armor degradation it would make sense - every time you are hit - 1 charge. But ... it just makes no sense for a weapon ..

If you take three hits in one tick, will you lose three charges? Or is that chaotics only.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

In 2010 chaotics could definitely degrade faster than the 10 hour time if you were in a heavily multicombat area, such as CT dagannoth.

But the 10 hour degrade time was basically 60,000 charges. Unless you were spending more than one charge per tick, you couldn't degrade a chaotic faster than 10 hours.

So...are drygores worth the cost to use?

More old-school than you know...

They do more damage than chaotics and can be repaired for less (assuming using coins instead of trying to value dungeoneering tokens), either by using chitin scraps or having 67+ smithing at an armour stand. (67 smithing is the level at which it goes under 2m to repair a mainhand drygore, but you should use chitin scraps if you have less than 72 smithing). At that point, if you want to do an analysis, you'll have to look at GWD weapons to really make a good comparison where there's a real trade-off.

Short answer: if you have the cash to buy them, drygores are worth it. (Assuming that today's update didn't completely scramble everything, which we'll probably have figured out for sure in a week or two.)

If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.
