Are there any monsters left with GREAT drops which I can melee?

Featured Replies

I'm referring to without having to use a bunch of prayer potions, and can just fight at least 20 of with just sharks/lobsters.

I used to in the past melee red dragons and greater demons a lot, but they aren't worth meleeing anymore since they now use magic.

Surprisingly it is ok to do it with nechryaerls.

And with fire giants as well.

So what other monsters are worth fighting with melee?

By great drops I mean at least one rune or dragon item which is dropped often enough. Or a hard clue scroll, thank you.

Cres's Automations are decent if you have t80+ weapons. Abyssal demons are decent as well.

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

Definitely agree on Abyssal Demons. They're weak to melee (for whatever reason). They seem to have consistent 10-20k+ value drops that are either stackable or alchable (or even better, Spring Cleaner!) and you can bring Magic Notepaper if you want to go through the trouble of noting the 100% ashes. If you kill them in the tower you can get a small bonus from getting a contract from the guy near the entrance as well.

Pretty good choice for casual no-effort camping which it seems like you're probably looking for (they're actually almost just like a better Nechryael, considering you gave that as an example).

I would not recommend automatons for melee in the slightest.

A big part of fighting them well is being able to safespot/keep distance to avoid their ground stomp thing - something melee cannot do.

If you use drygores + extremes however you should nearly always kill them before they stomp. Much like frost dragons and their blue orb.

Alright, I apprecieate you guys suggesting abyssal demons, but there is one problem.

I don't have 85 slayer yet, so I can't fight them even if I wanted to.

Umm... You might could try fighting warped tortoises then. They drop the shells that are around 15k each.

It's alright, nechyaerls are still great to fight and most of the seeds they drop is worth a lot.

Again thanks for the help guys, I will give these monsters other than the abyssal demons you guys suggested a chance some time.
