I know I could easily use RS Wiki to see all the spells, but I actually have a question that I need another human being to answer, and no amount of research will give me exact answer. I'm not asking if spells in the main spell book requiring blood runes still exist, I'm asking if useful spells people use on a regular basis exist. So yeah, do they exist? They don't need to just be useful, they need to be something not just a few but a lot of players use on frequent basis. Thank you. And I'm aware that many spells like that exist in the ancient magics book, but I'm only talking about the main spell book, since that's the one I use.

Some people use Surge spells, sure? And of course the Blast spells on F2P. Generally, Ancient Magicks are preferred if affordable though, since they do so much more damage.

But these don't even require blood runes anymore.

based on what the wiki says the only normal magic spell that uses blood runes is the bolt enchanting for ruby bolts. in terms of usefulness. not for most people no. 

 

however if the question is overall usefulness the ancient magics spell book is quite good and defiently something worth trying to get if you dont already have it. the spells are siginificantly more useful with their effects. 

 

 

blood runes can also be used to recharge a blood fury neckalce (or any of the other blood shard neckalces)

 

I suspect you want to know if you want to get rid of your blood runes. if you have bank space dont get rid of them. if you need the bank space pick something else maybe.

I don't understand your question then. The Ancient Magicks spells that use them are:

 

Kharyrll Teleport 

Smoke Blitz 

Shadow Blitz 

Blood Blitz 

Ice Blitz 

Smoke Barrage 

Shadow Barrage 

Annakarl Teleport

Disruption Shield 

Blood Barrage 

Ice Barrage

 

Some of them are indeed used widely, like Ice Barrage most infamously...

Oh...well then yeah, the one spell, that's about it...and I'm not sure how many people even do that spell, probably a good loss of GP's (wiki says -460k/hr lol).

True, but the RS wiki doesn't exactly say if it's used widely or not, so I wouldn't have known if I didn't make this thread.

based on that cost/hr and the idea that a large number of the people that use bolts of the ascension and royal variety, rather than the ruby variety would lead to the conclusion that no, hardly any one would use that spell. sorry for the snark I am a little tired it is not intended.

I see what you mean, at the top of that gathering the items yourself isn't easy either.

 

There is no place you can get an uncut ruby 100% of the times. At the top of that, if you don't have the smithing/fletching level needed, you would need to kill iron dragons to get the adamant bolts, and they don't even drop it 100% of the times. But when they do drop it, it's usually less than 10, so it's not worth it.

Actually just FYI you can obtain gems from gem rocks in Shilo Village, though it can be bit of a process to extract any decent quantity.

But these are still not that common.

 

No matter what you do, it will take a long period of time to get 15 uncut rubies.

Well I can't kill them yet since my slayer level is not high enough.

 

Besides, if you wanna get everything needed for free, you would have to smith adamant bolts, kill a bunch of chickens and all that. So yeah, it's not worth it in the end.

 

You get money much quicker by making and selling steel bars, and these are ridiculously easy to make.

Since they made magic easier to use (for EOC), lots of runes have lost (a big part of) their purpose. You would expect they come up with something better (more creative, more magic-like) than vis wax to use runes for...
