What should I do when I return to playing the game?

Featured Replies

I had a goal of killing 15,000 steel dragons, and to be frank and honest, I am giving up on that the moment I get my membership back.

Ever since I started playing the game, I have had a log of monsters to kill, and I often killed thousands of monsters at once. But that took a very long time.

When I aimed on killing 1,000 steel dragons for example, it took me almost two years, and that's no exaggeration.

What am I thinking about doing? I'm thinking about playing the game like it's meant to be played. There are plenty of games I only have to pay for once (and that's when I buy it) where I can kill monsters. And what do you know? There are also plenty of them where I can get a monster's drop.

When I return, I want to get some friends in the game, and do quests on a much more frequent basis. The reason I was ignorant on the game earlier this year was because killing monsters and gathering their drops is all I really did. And it isn't fun anymore.

I am still gonna make items out of all the steel bars, herbs, and more that I currently own. Either that or sell them, since making potions, metal items, etc. also takes a long time.

I'm not sure when I'll return, but when I do pickpocketing and killing monsters won't be what I mostly do in the game. I should have known I'd get tired of doing that eventually, and that time has come.

I do feel kinda bad that I couldn't finish the goal of 15,000 steel dragons to kill. But ah well, what's done is done and I'm giving up.

Hey Blaze! Feel free to add me ingame if you like. My RSN is Meranek. I've been around for a while and wouldn't mind getting you back into the swing of things. Goals like 15k Steel Dragons are great, but they are pretty draining, both on a mental and time-required basis.

Good luck getting back into the game!

If you're looking to do more, quests are a great place to start. You could say go for a quest cape?

I second Arceus! Go for a quest cape!

That way, you unlock a LOT of content!

Thanks for the tip, but aiming for the quest cape is too much pressure for me. I'd rather take my time with the quests instead of rushing through.

I will do quests more often though, and am only gonna use a walkthrough as a last resort.

Sounds good then, just keep in mind some quests are very difficult without a walkthrough so don't feel bad if you do need one :).

Heck, some of the quest are soo hard that even on release day, almost no-one managed to beat it. The few who did took at least 8 hours minimal with a lot of luck and after thought. I don't think a proper guide was released until a month after. One quest in particular was that bad: Mournings End.

Also, it took me almost 7 full years for me to complete my goal of 200m FM. On the way to that I also managed to get Completionist Cape and have quite a lot of requirements done for the upcoming Master Quest Cape as well. Most of these latter two things were done just on the fly or alongside the road. My advice would be to set your main goals always on the backburner and just do the little things in between. Take a weekly slayer task and hope you get a dragon task. It might take a few tasks to get one, but hey you got another 100 dragons killed. 13,900 more to go ;)! Do not forget it is all about the journey, not the goal in the end.

You don't need to really work super hard at quest cape...

All you can do is..

Make a list of what quests that you have to do

Pick one, and if you have the stats and prerequisites for it, do it, and if you end up spending more than 2 hours on it, take a quick look at the guide for the step that you are stuck on

Thank you all for the help, but I'm not sure if I will come back, more on that in that other thread.
