March 1, 200620 yr most of those names are made for staking so people will have a hard time looking up their name in the highscores and most auto'ers tend to have the stupid names like hgdsdf24234, well i agree with you in someway but i dont think they are all auto'ers with that style of name

Thats a good idea, and would still allow you to choose what u are reporting them for. Youd just have to be careful and make sure the right name was in there when you are in a crowded area, you might still accidentally click the wrong name. What if there are perfectly good players being banned for it. Jagex should have stopped their names from being created in the first place and if they change the font in game the problem will be solved :D Photos!
March 2, 200620 yr Well, changing the font won't entirely solve the problem. There is still the issue of, "gee was that five 0s(zeros) or six 0s(zeros) before the o(letter O)."
March 2, 200620 yr Author What if they didn't capatalise the letters after spaces so that they would have it like "0 o o 0 o" so that we can report them if they do wrong and then the good players like some pk'rs I know with names similar to that. I don't think we should have to say good bye to some friends if they get banned because jagex were short-sited enough to allow the Zeros and the 0s look the same and created a loophole so that people can avoid being reported. I can see why they might want to ban players with names that confuse people. But surely they can't ban players who have possibly payed for several months of membership without reason? What gives? Jagex should only ban with reason - not because they didn't see how players could create accounts with confusing names. Either they should ban with reason or not ban. ^I kinda went round in a loop up there didn't I? :shock: ^ Photos!

Because perfectly good players break a rule with the very first thing they do with their account? :| I fail to see how they can be able to break a rule that is not existing - the closest rule is offencive language in my opinion - and anyway if it wasn't against the rules when they created it how can they be banned for a rule that didn't exist until recently. They are making up rules as they go along. I find that unfair. :( Photos!
March 2, 200620 yr There's a clear rule (or in the T&C) that you can't make confusing names deliberately. HOWEVER, I share your concern in making up rules as they go. It's well possible that a person made an account like that without intending to break the rules before the rule was in place. March 3, 200620 yr Author Hypothetical scenario: You create a confusing account name. Without warning you are banned. But jagex have let you pay for months perhaps years of membership but they have created a new rule so you are now permanantly banned. what would you feel about that? but I do respect your opinion and am not trying to convert you to my belief on this matter but I do feel that they are wrong to ban them. soon they might make another rule "no names with numbers in it" and then ban all those people with numbers in name. March 3, 200620 yr Hmm, depends on the player, at this point anyway. If they had created their character BEFORE the rule about confusing names, I believe that they should be allowed to change their name. Though if they created the account after the rule was in place, well, they were warned, were they not? Something of a grandfather clause, if you will. However, some problems do arise from name changes such as this. How do you handle the friends list changes? Just because people are not on your friends list does not mean that you are not on theirs. The name changes will not update their lists unless a complete scan of the entire database of player files is run. Same consideration for the ignore list. I would assume this is because the player name is tied to the save file used for the character. As you can see, this could be an advantage for abusive players as they could have their name changed, you ignore them, they just change their name and start bothering you again.
