alturnitve to winRAR? i dont want to pay but want 2 download

well i got an unlimited download plan and i want to download as much as possible,

 

 

 

the thing is im a bit worried about winRAR's whole buy a license to be able to keep using it after the 40 day trial.

 

 

 

i have 3 days left :cry: .

 

 

 

is there an alturnitve or am i really in as bad a situation as i think?

Why bother cracking stuff when theres free legal alternatives? pfft

 

try 7zip

 

 

 

edit: after the trial all you get is a nag screen telling you to buy it before you can compress/uncompress a file, it doesnt actually stop working.

Just for the sake of testing 7zip vs winRAR on my own file set, I used My Recived Files.

 

 

 

141MB of pure random file types and quantities of.

 

 

 

With both using their best compression...

 

 

 

7zip: 88,360KB

 

winRAR: 88, 518KB

 

 

 

 

 

*shrug* I'll stick with my more easy accessable and widely supported archiver.

just have winrar integrate itself into windows, right click on zip and rar files to unpack them. i never pack anything, so i dont know how that works.
You can do that with 7-zip too

WinRAR just gives you an annoying message after the trial is over. You don't even have to wait for it to disappear or anything; you just click "close", and you can use the program :)
