gonpost
Hey guys, I'm looking for a summer job. I'm currently 17 and I need some ideas...my only preference is that I avoid fast food at all costs...but it's a last resort and is possible. I'm male and perfectly capable of physical work. I'm just asking if anyone has ideas. I've thought of a few things to look into, but I want to know if you all would have any better ideas... Thanks for suggestions! jak722
If you mean by fast food, cashiers and cooks, then im in the same boat as you... But I recently applied for a kitchen *cough*dishwasher*cough* position at a restaurant. Its a good restaurant too! Hopefully i'll get hired. :D I tried looking for general help sort of jobs, but most I found was that you needed a driver's license and a car, or to be at least 18 years old... Idk why, but my friend got hired by a landscaping company and he gets paid like 450-500 dollars a week! Lucky guy... punk4ever
Talk to your parents I would say. I talked to my dad a few weeks back and found out he knew a guy who owned his own company. Well, it turns out that he needs someone this summer to act as an assistant manager (temporarily) and so I was hired. :D I would go with the most common jobs like hostessing, waiter, working at the local grocery store, and customer service (answering phones, etc.). runesmithie
I'm thinking about applying to a theater :D It sounds a little out of the ordinary fast food/ grocery store/ CS :P (Plus the perks sound good, when I don't really see movies at all :P ) I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam. Icingdeath
If you live in a farming community or near one, picking rock is awesome. I got paid $10 an hour, worked 8-10 hours or so a day to pick rocks out of a field. Kind of boring, but worth it. I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.
sparky697
i'm 16 and i cut lawns in the summer when i'm out of school. i only get paid $6.00 an hour, but that's all i need. i get MUCH-NEEDED excercise and a good tan. this job is definately a test to see how hard you can work. i dont mind it becasue it has everything i need. i'd recommend this if you're looking for a manly job. Devilsdragon
I'm thinking about applying to a theater :D It sounds a little out of the ordinary fast food/ grocery store/ CS :P (Plus the perks sound good, when I don't really see movies at all :P ) Working at a busy theater is suppose to be really bad, concessions or ticket seller(both are cashiering, but concessions is suppose to be worse). Plus you have to clean up the theater itself after every movie(which is suppose to be the worst part of the job) An ice cream store like baskin robins or cold stone, I'd like to work at one of those two during the summer. I've heard that Baskin Robins is suppose to fire people every couple of months  but if all you want is a job for the summer then thats good. And Cold Stone is suppose to be really good for extra money from tips if you only have 2-3 people working on a busy night(extra 2 dollars an hour) but recently they have overstocked the people work force so there's more like 8 people behind the counter(the line moves faster, but you get alot less money)
Yoshi161
Well, I'm 16 and my uncle owns a cabinet shop and i'm going to work for him this summer. We are going to like Mississippi where the Katrina messed it up and install cabinets there. Ps. I don't know how hard it is to get a job at a cabinet shop if you don't have a pull. :? You could try though. Good luck!
lucasesco
How are you physically? Yes i know some shops are very picky about appearances of their workers but man... Fast food restaurants are the lowest paid per hour in the US. Go to you local mall.. look at the high selling shops and then apply for summer jobs their. Abercrombie pays good plus you get discount on their clothes :P so its awesome. Work is soft.. you'll help hot chicks dress up.. Id go for clothes stores I SURVIVED THE 111 BUG If a turtle doesnt have a shell, is it naked or homeless ?
