brave
I'm fed up about all this talk of ulterior motives for the essence update. It was to stop essence macroers and will eventually work. I can also see the same principle being applied to other resources in f2p, eg Yews. If a macroer wants to besome a member, good and as someone said more money to Jagex, more and better upgrades to the game (at least the p2p). Howver, forcing macroers to become members will give Jagex more power to permanently ban them. This is because to become a member you have to give legit information. If someone intentionally gives information that is not legit to get into the game, they are comitting a criminal offence for which, theoretically Jagex could prosecute. Y2g2003
...Even if they did do it to make autoers pay... The autoers would be paying just $5 a month and in return they would be making what? At least an extra couple of dollars (I hate to estimate, but I'd guess they'd make at least $10). EDIT: Didn't read the second page and now I see someone already touched on what I was getting at. The figure of $10 was just that it would be the figure that the macroer would hit 100% profit. R.I.P Shiva

d4_n00b_m4n
i dont know if you know this, but in january jagex banned over 5000 members that used to auto in rsc. thats cutting their own income by $25000. why wouldnt they ban members? members get banned everyday. just ask them if a member gets caught autoing, he will be banned immediately and no $5 refund. the reason why f2pers auto more is because there is much less risk. an account takes about 15 minutes to get off tutorial island, and 15 minutes to complete rune mysteries quest. in 30 minutes you can create a new account and set him to auto mine ess, for free, with no cost to you with the updaye, you have to create your account and join members, pay $5 and then after gettingto lumbridge you still have to get your mining to 30 before you can get to pure ess mining. this will take over an hour, plus you risk losing your $5 without making a profit, plus having your credit card/paypal account flagged if you want to try that again. the update is a deterent for macroers. if somebody is stupid enough to risk their $5 to go through with this, then tough luck when he gets banned. And you can script bots to do the tutorial island & rune mysteries quest
TeeBeaun
How many times have i heard that the economy is going to crash this week, or that mages are going to be getting killed left and right now, guess what its never happened, all these little "guesses" to the future are always wrong. The point of the change is to deture people from spending time AND money to get banned. what they need to do is to get an anti-cheat client that everyone needs to use, like PunkBuster, that way they can start doing hardware bans, and you would need a new HDD to even play runescape. They really dont care about the few people they ba everyday, sure it adds up, but look at how many people pay membership on a regular basis?
