MMORPG AI Idea

AI in games are stupid, no matter how advanced the program is the AI in a MMO is gona be brainless. Why you may ask? Because a Server cant control 1k characters and the AI that they are bashing to bits!

 

 

 

A solution is to remove the AI and replace it with something a little brighter. lightbulb.gif Um, not that.

Where do game manufactures find these brains? Well who else than a free player wanting to test a game he might buy membership for.

 

 

 

These free player/AI creatures will only be given a limited freedom. They can move around in their area and are given control of most of the combat. The only thing not determined by the free player is the drop, this will be determined by the two players power and how good the fight is.

 

 

 

Autoing will not be a problem because when a free player battles a member, not only will the fight be judged during combat but they will not be allowed to chalange anyone within 500 miles of each other with IPAdresses.

 

 

 

The freeplayers will never battle the same player again ether! A record will be maintained tracking all the players a freeplayer has battled. Now if you are woried about a very new free player fighing using a dragon, dont fear! The Judge will also control what creature a free player will control. The higher your rank, the closer you get to being that ultadragon.

 

 

 

If exsess free players are not pressent when needed the the server can goto plan B, the AI. This AI however can be many times greater than normal AI because more power can be dedicated to it.

 

 

 

 

 

Tell me what you think of this concept, if you say you dont then please tell me why not and if you did not understand them please ask for a clarification. Also keep in mind, I do not intend this concept to be used in Runescape.

On all WoW servers at least the number of mobs is greater than the number of players. Are you suggesting that the majority of the playerbase are controlling menial enemies?

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

I'm sorry, but that would just be bad. What if your 'enemy' went afk because he needed to go do something. Or perhaps yoiur 'enemy' sucked at the game.

 

 

 

Needless to say, you would get a lot of people cheating their way through the game, I.E, get a friend to be a monster and just easily kill it.

 

 

 

 

 

I don't know why you don't think that a server can't hold enemy AI on it by the way, hell, EVE Online holds 20k +P real players at a peak time, and god only knows how many AI monsters EQ2 does.

Or you could just play solely on pvp servers. That way all your enemies are people.

 

 

 

The only way I see this working is not making all the mobs player controlled but making some of the highest levels contolled, that way there is more skill involved not just routine clicking.

 

 

 

But Personally I don't see it working, especially when you can pvp easy enough.
