I've had real life friends who want boyfriends and i ask why and they say "so i can get free stuff" or something like that. annoying. and if someone's gonna want a bf, they shouldn't be advertising themselves! July 17, 200619 yr The reporting system is a tailpipe solution, basically. It may work for players getting out of hand with the bf/gf advertisements, but it's not really effective for crude names. Plain and simple, Jagex really needs to consider a filter at character creation. Here is a screenshot of the username screen (please excuse the poor quality): I am not sure of bandwidth limitations at Jagex but since I'm sure it doesn't actually have to be a part of the Java code, it shouldn't be hard to implement. Yes, it would have to be fine-tuned, but... what's so hard about choosing a new name a few times? I would like Jagex also to extend the option they have offered to players to change their nickname if needed... what happened to that? Please consider adding these points to your petition (as long as your signed people agree) and you will have my full support.

July 17, 200619 yr I'm afraid I disagree with both your points, and no i'm not just being awkward. I will explain as follows: 1. Ingame b/f or g/f: If people wish to advertise their needs in banks then why the hell not, it effects me just as much as some newbs discussing how hard a quest is, or trying to get me to view a "bank sale" of items that in total worth 20K or ppl telling me how 'cool and rich' I look in the hopes of free money/items. Jagez try and make runescape like real life online, training skills, combat, socialising - so why not with "ingame" partners? They created the god books with options to read marrage rights so ingame couples could further the charade and even get "married". People advertising for partners may have motives of getting free stuff, but this isn't much different from real life. I've been to many bars with girls who lead men on just to get free drinks. Its a part of real life! Why ban this, when in my opinion there are plenty more annoying things that happen in banks :P 2. "profane names" I don't really view anything like 'secygurl85' as offensive and how could you? if describing your character in its name as 'secy' is offensive then why not ban anything religious as well - as that could be viewed as offensive by some ppl. Hmmm and why not ban names like 'newb basher' or 'total killer' as those names are violent and that might offend some people. July 18, 200619 yr this bf gf thing can actually go much deeper. one idiot agrees to be someones bf, but then when the gf sends a video over AIM or whatever, what they actually sent is a keylogger. i've heard about it happening to so you can include me on that list :thumbsup:
