st_laflahae
There was a company who were offering to do DOS attacks against spammers. Despite being illegal, i think it is a very novel way of stopping the spammers, fight fire with fire, as they say - spamming the spammers, crashing the spammers' servers. Unfortunately the company went out of business. I do get spam every now and again, like the good old "Hello, I am from a Nigerian Bank. Send me money, now, please." I should reply, really, telling them that they are all idiots. But i cant be bothered. The moral of the story is, if you dont want spam, dont let them get your email address. Anesthesia
If they're in your spam folder on gmail then what's the problem? You don't have to waste your bandwidth downloading them, you don't even have to look in there. If you use POP3/IMAP then you can use mozilla thunderbird which has adaptive spam filters. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
Ard_Choille
This might not stop all spam, but it's a start: http://www.dmaconsumers.org/consumers/optoutform_emps.shtml - - My deviantART Page - -
Anesthesia
The majority of spam is sent via compromised home computers (botnets, zombie networks) and they don't adhere to any rules so putting your name on one of those lists is unlikely to reduce your spam by even 1%. bjbj1991
Ok so im stuck with some of them. Do the sections that ask you if you wish to get more emails usualy work or do they just send your email to others knowing that it's a valid adress? If it's from a company that you've heard of then the chances are it will work. Otherwise, yes, it will just let them know its a valid address. Some people are changed by being a moderator. yomom1919
i assume thats your only email account, and the account you use to sign up at sites for different accounts? you could either: buy one of those spam blocker things, or make 2 email accounts. 1 for signing up for stuff online, and the other strictly for friends and stuff. you wont get any spam. Doomster
NEVER use unsubscribe links in dodgy emails - it often serves just to tell them that the account IS live. If you chose to sign up, or were "signed up" by a reputable company when purchasing, then try unsubscribing. And please, never spam-report genuine newsletters that you are fed up with - unsubscribe. False spam reporting wastes time and devalues genuine reporting.
