Range vs Fire?

Featured Replies

Are ranges actually better to cook on than fires or not? Some people say they are, some say they're the same. Who's right??

I'm trying out cooking sharks on a range, and then in rogue's den at the fire now, to see if theres any major differences in the amount I burn. Does anyone know if a range is actually better or not though?

Jagex has confirmed, that if you cook food on a range, you have a higher sucess rate than you do on a fire. I'll try find the quote.. if I can remember where i've seen it.

Hmm, for any range? I heard the one in lumby was special, but I dunno if they are all better.

Just saw Tuck's post, I suppose that settles it then. I tried asking on official forums, but nobody who was in a position to know answered.

Special? As far as I know, a range is a range..

Special, as in slighly less burn chance than other ones.

Results of my cooking are in, I burn 30/280 in rogue's den, and 28/280 in catherby on the range.

only 2 skills below level 50 :)

Yeah, so there is a difference, even if it is a slight one. However, if you are cooking thousands of fish, them one or two burnt ones, will begin to add up.

I'll agree, but that difference may have been due to chance and not actually any sort of significant difference. I dunno what to test it with for significance though.

Well at level 86 cooking, I'm guessing you wont be burning many low level foods anyway? ..But range is supposedly better. :)

Ranges are better to cook on. And i think the cook in Lumby says something about that range being better.

Play the game, ignore the noobs, and when you run into them, run over em and keep going!

Taken from Cook's Assistant Quest Gernal:

As a reward, he now lets me use his high quality range which lets me burn things less whenever I wish to cook there.

I might have to try this, as there is a bank chest right underneath him.

The range in Lumby castle is better than all other ranges. And ranges are better than fires.
