June 29, 200620 yr how does forging ring work? does it work with superheating ( the spell to smelt) how long does it last? thx =)
June 29, 200620 yr It gives a 100% rate of success for smelting iron in a furnace and lasts for 140 ores before breaking. Superheat item spell has a 100% success rate with or without the ring.
June 29, 200620 yr You only get 50% rate of making iron bar on a normal furance, blast furance and superheat spell gives it 100%. However, I see no point of this ring since iron stinks. It could be useful to make spites. But I see no other use. Why in the blazes would you wanna alch 1K iron platebodies? It gives you good money but still you could get a lot more with less than 7500 Steel Platebodies than 1K iron platebodies. Word of warning on Blast Furance: Make sure you have no coal in there. Otherwise you will get steel bar. Of course it is because you want iron bars. Don't understand why. Anyway good luck. \

Only needs 1k iron and 8 forging rings for 5k knives.. 99 cooking / 99 magic / 99 ranged / 99 hitpoints / 99 herblore / 99 defence Quoted for truth, wisest thing I've heard anyone say on Runescape.
June 30, 200620 yr not always about making money...this is pretty good xp. 1M gp will get you 10k iron ores. That's 550k smithing xp...if high-alc 2k iron plates, you could get back 672k gp and get 130k magic xp. Of course, there's the cost of nats to consider, but if he RC's them... Tho, I think I'd rather smelt gold with smithing gaunlets for 56.25xp each.

The Considerations section of Tip.It's Smithing guide has some info showing why iron the preferred ore for training smithing. Players at level 70 and above swear by iron, smelting and forging 10K iron ore at a stretch. Iron ore earns about 37.5 xp PER ORE used (with Ring of forging for 100% success) because it doesn't require the addition of any coal ore. Mining coal takes time - most high-end smithers can one-hit iron, so hardly any time is needed to get a lot of it. Power Smithers tend to make knives as another poster suggested, but profit is not their goal. The bottom line is that Power Smithers focus on iron. If money is your main concern, that's a different story. And TheBlazikenMaster is quite correct about the Blast Furnace - it does tend to turn out the undesired product when using iron if you're not careful with your coal, lol. it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.
