Pixel Tiger **finished**

Not at all my kind of thing. Way too many colours. For things like this, It would be much better to photoshop some nice lineart, before Smudging together 3 or 4 different shades, to get a smoother finish.

In the top-left area of the head (and ear) I found 8 different shades of grey, but I'm sure I could've missed another 2 or 3 if I'd kept on looking. Another thing that could be improved is the Lineart. With 8+ shades of grey at your disposal, you could've carried out some pretty awesome anti-aliasing.

You don't like using lots of colours? What?? What's wrong with that?? They're just shades of one colour...

This is a pixel... You use smudging tools in photoshop on your pixels??? What? That's not how you make pixel works...

Yes it would look nicer, but anyone could just smudge colours together...

Antialiasing on a pixel???

Could you really be bothered to go and anti aliase all of this???

And once again, Anti aliasing really takes away the pixel effect. Would you anti aliase a pixel at risk of being told you didn't really do it, and just used some photoshop tool? Like you told Dark to earlier?

You miss colours when you look longer? So you unfind them? WTP?

Ok, I don't know what you consider a pixel, but anti aliasing and smudging 4 shades of colour together is not pixel work to me.

Oh, and you manage to contradict yourself by saying there are too many colours, but you then go on to say Dark should anti-aliase and smudge colours... Well anti-aliasing and smudging colours makes even more colours... Really... WTP??

Okay, Please don't patronise me, I have absolutely no intention of starting a flame war here, but you clearly have no idea of what I tried to say.

Right, Anti-Aliasing, Believe it or not, is a widely used pixel art technique. It takes nothing away from an image, but it adds a certain 'polish' to the jagged, monotone lines.

I didn't mean that people should go off and make Pixel art with PS tools, I meant that images with no apparent colur-restraints are probably best off using these tools, as there is no limit to the amount of shades that can be made.

About the 'Different shades of grey are still one colour' thing. No they're not. Light Grey, Lighter Gray, and (ugh) Lighest Grey, although all Grey, are infact different colours, and take up another slot in one's palette.

Sorry if I missed anything.

Ooookay... You obviously don't share the same views.

Doesn't mean you have to laugh at me. :anxious:

I wouldn't do what he suggested, but that's my choice.

You may want to, I'm not stopping you. By all means, go right ahead.

Anyway, I'll shut up now. :D

thanks for the tips guys lol. interesting to read your point of views. gold, the stripes arnt actually black. what i did was make them a dark grey, and kind of 'shaded' them with black so it gave it a kinda fur texture. but unfortunately, when i uploaded it, for some reason the image was made darker :? what ill probably do, is leave this tiger for about a month without looking at it, then come back and see what needs fixing.. ive been staring at teh thing for way too long

thanks for the ideas guys :)
