Making money off of magic? Surely not!

Featured Replies

Well, I finally got around to finishing the Death to the Dorgeshunn quest, and being a bit curious, I decided to thieve the keys from the guards. First, the disclaimer is that I'm relatively high thieving, and these tactics might not work for you.

That said, I was amazed at the speed I got keys. About one in every two picks was a key. I noticed that almost every single item gotten from the chests alched for more than 300 gp, and in a lot of cases, for well more than that.

So I bought 100 nature runes for 30k, and decided to go to the chests. In about 3 minutes, I thieved a full load of keys. Opening the chests, I alched all the gemmed items I got, and just dropped the gold (amulets, rings, necklaces), and about 15 minutes, I had over 30k in alched money, as well as 50 natures left.

So in 15 minutes, I got 50 alchs worth of experience for free, and if I stayed for the entire 100 natures, I'm sure I would have gotten at least double gold.

So while it's not the fastest way of making money, nor the fastest way of getting mage xp, if you want a guaranteed way of making money, is this good?

Discuss :P

very nice find, good way to raise your magic if your low on money. I am not therefore I use slayer dart and can also train my slayer along with my magic. Its expensive but not boring like alching :P

I train with slayer dart aswell, so much better (94 mage btw)
