Now I don't have the best photoshop, and I couldn't use any tutorials since when I do what they say the option I am supposed to select can't be selected, so I used Adobe ImageReady, which I found to be pretty good. I thought I would take my three favourite colours and distort them using the twirl filter, I then added some contrasting text with my username, photography terms and finally "Landscape & Macro Photographer". I don't really know if it qualifies as an abstract but some C/C would be appreciated, and go easy guys - I'm a newb when it comes to Adobe Photoshop or ImageReady.

Ugly cloud render with text slapped on.

Do some brushing, read some tutorials, THEN make a sig.

Okay, I admit it is just colours with some text "slapped on", but had you read my post you would have known that I can't seem to get the tutorials to work in my favour. And if you don't mind me asking? What do you mean by "Brushing" - I'm new to PhotoShop

What I think he means is to select the paint brush tool, and then find the option to change the nib of the paintbrush, and then test them out and see which ones you think will give you a nice effect. That is all I can really say because I personally don't have photoshop but I should imagin that it has fairly similar tools to PSP.

the progam adobe paintshop, takes a bit of getting used too, when i first started using it mostly my mistake were i didnt know when to stop smudging and blending, keep at it but 1 step at a time, save it before you move onto the next stage as you can always bring that level back if you dont like the effect you have

you can produce some good images just keep at it
