RC/Mage training...

Featured Replies

Hi, at the moment to train mage I craft minds and airs then fish out my earth staff and kill guards or lessers with Earth Strike. I use Earth Strike because it is the best combat spell using only 1 air. Is this a good way to train 2 skills at the same time, or should I Rc and sell runes, then buy more runes... anyway, I need help. :-k #-o

Oh and BTW my mage is 44 (aim 55) and my Rcing is 29 (aim 40). Thanks in advance.

You're not getting my point. If you had an IQ above room temperature you would.

Well, if you like to train magic in a non-combat way (like me:P) then I would suggest making cosmics, they're good xp and what I made to get 40 rc then do the Mage Training arena and Enchant Emeralds in the Enchanters' Teleport. Otherwise, I guess what you're doing is good.

It's good but crafting your own runes slows up your mage training a lot. If you really want to train mage fast just buy runes.

if you want to bring up your magic and rc... I suggest you use curse and make body runes. (get a water and earth staff) Take your curse spell and go crazy on the chickens south of falador (you can curse mutliple chickens... do it over the fence). It's taxing but well worth it for your rc xp cause body runes are worth the most per rune essence. PLUS the curse spell won't raise your hp, but you can do that yourself whenever you want.

this is just for rc. Get Body Talis (at general store for 5gp each, or on the ground, whatever). Buy tiaras when they're in high stock (30gp each). MELD It only takes 120 body tiaras to go from level 1 to level 20 rc (go figure!)

Of course, you can use other talis, earth being pretty good cause theres so many of them

Hope that helps

For a mage in F2P, I'd say that self crafted airs & minds are the best combat training, while curses are also good.

Assuming you have levelled to 14 RC (2x on both), then two loads of ess, 1 trip to each altar, makes 56/54 casts of earth strike.

Buying runes is all very well, but unless you already have a large slush fund, that means another skill to generate cash.

Ah! 29 RC, that means triple minds, triple airs (quadruple at 33). Now when I hit that level, I did 1k of ess to minds (and a few loads of bodies) until airs quadruple at 33 - I'd recommend a push like that, as then you have a large stock of minds and buils airs up at 4:1 ess instead of 3:1.

I also tend to carry a fire staff at all times, despite it being 2 airs instead of 1, since I only go higher than fire strike against targets with any serious retaliation, fire strike is my KILLING spell as well as training, at least on anything trapped or weedy.

well if i were u i would mine 1500 ess(saves a lot of money). then craft 500 into minds then 1k into airs. next buy a fire staff. head to wiz tow then kill the lesser demon. (note:cursing the lesser is good too!)

Make minds until you are lv33 rc, and then make as many airs as you can. Sell some of them and use the money to buy minds. Then use whatever spell you please (fire/earth strike).

Since you make more airs per trip, selling them at around 12gp will still make lots of money, enough to get a decent amount of minds. And whenever you need minds just craft airs, especially when you are over lv44 rc. Hope that helps. Also, try to train on monsters that drop runes such as natures, laws, chaos or minds. You can use them to boost ur mage lv as well!

I used to do this when I was f2p. (I've been members for a year on the 2nd of Sept). Last summer I made loads of calculators in Excel, one of which was exactly to do with what you are doing (Except using Fire strike, which is faster training).

I'll try and find it and upload it somewhere. If you don't trust me then get someone to check the link , but it will be ok O:)

EDIT: Here's the link, which doesn't work  (http://www.geocities.com/threefootcamel/rc_calc.xls).. d'oh replace "Not allowed" with g e o c i t i e s without the spaces

Not so much SELLING airs, as making anything else (or banking a large stack of minds) until you get 4x instead of 3x on the airs.

Then take your staff (fire or earth), stand behind a fence in stronghold level 1 and let rip on the minotaurs. The noted ess is a "collect always" for runecrafters, while the iron arrows also stack, as do any coins.

Unless you NEED faster kills, I wouldn't bother with trading for higher runes - if it can't hit you, then strikes will wear it down. You LOSE potential XP if you trade for higher, since the runes for 10 earth strikes will probably only buy you a single bolt spell (chaos rune).
