Try to remove the bevel & emboss on the font at first (looks too 3D-ish too me :)) and then perhaps some kind of pixel font but one that can be used at bigger sizes? :D

I just had a totally weird idea... If you could use the same font as you used for the quote but correct it abit (means you would have to draw extra lines on the text after you have written it) and then make it look more pixelish (but still not as much as your latest try) then i think it would own, also if you could remove the current picture of the "visible" mule and then perhaps use more mules but faded then i think it would own alot more :) (sorry if im making this too hard for you :?)

Hmm the brown mule doesn't really blend it well at the current spot maybe you could try to change the color of it? to be "less" brown if its gonna stay there :) anyways i love it so far :)
