More freedom for thread creators!

Featured Replies

Thread creators should have some power over their own post. They should be able to block troublesome people from posting (moderators cannot be blocked), the abliltiy to edit posts within their thread (It would say that it was edited by you), and the ability to lock your own thread, and the ability to hide posts within your thread.

This will lead to people blocking people that don't agree with their opinion and will only lead to more flame wars between users.

, the abliltiy to edit posts within their thread (It would say that it was edited by you)

Even if it's tagged as editted by the owner, it will lead to the same as blocking. People will get pissed off when a thread owner edits something (a word here or there), making the post look legit.

Locking your own thread would be usefull, but hiding posts, no. This leads to more flame wars over the thread owners opinion because he isn't allowing free debate. You don't like an opinion, you hide a post, the poster gets mad and we have another flame war.

Leave the modding to the people that know what they're doing...

Thread creators already have the freedom to have their own threads they make locked, they just have to ask a mod to do so. Your other suggestions are just bad for free debate - which is what a forum is about. If you disagree with someone you shouldn't be able to just silence them, that defeats the purpose.

Almost all of that can be done by contacting a staff member - it is their job, after all, to clean up threads and deal with problem-users. Giving thread creators such "power" would probably just lead to abuse.
