JacobRyan
I'm using a Maxtor 5000 external hard drive, and I've used it for well over a year, all of a sudden it says it needs to be formatted, obviously I not want to do this, there goes all my music, my artwork, and what not. Any body know what I could do to correct this problem?

Sinkhan
If you have an existing internal drive, try and copy all the files back onto it, format the external one and then transfer everything over. That...or find a couple CDs and disks... Something to fill my sig with until I find a replacement. Also check out my blug
JacobRyan
I tried doing a back-up but it'll only let me back-up to a Floppy drive which is obviously not enough. And pictures, what the hell can I do? Take my camera and take pictures of it?
Sinkhan
As long as your artwork isn't too large, disks should be ok. As for the music, if you got them from a CD, then it'll be easy to get it all back of course. If you got it from Limewire, then just as easy. Chris
Get someone with a computer to help you, preferably one with a DVD-Writer. If their computer allows you to access the data, it'd be a great idea to shove it all on DVD(s). Format the drive on your PC and use it as normal, but always keep regular backups. Notoriously Trollish.
tunaboy692004
download the nero trial, it offers a back up tool which allows you to back up anything to a DVD, CD or to another hard drive. But to your problem, have you installed any new hard ware latly, possible USB devices?
