New Rule and Ability for Moderators

Featured Replies

This will be kind of long but please read it if you open this:

I'm one of those p2p players that likes to go into f2p worlds and show off my stuff (either in my new Torags or in my black cav with my good ol' rubber chicken). While i'm in Lumbridge, which is usually where i hangout i notice a lot of noobs cursing or trying to sell accounts, which i always report. But there is one thing i always notice them doing.

Many noobs will always abuse emotes thinking its funny. One of the most common ones i see is a noob goes behind a girl character and does the Dance emote and starts sayin somethin like "oh yea! oh yea!". I won't go into detail, but we all know what they're implying. I propose an idea for a new rule called Emote Abuse to report such things like this, because the emotes weren't put in for that purpose at all. The rule could state how nobody can use an emote in any sort of obscene, or offensive way.

This also brings me to my next point. Many people will say that you should get a mod to mute the noob. Now really, muting will stop them from swearing and saying bad things, but it won't stop them from using emotes. I think the mods should be given another ability along the lines of "freezing" a character, disabling them from using emotes at all.

These are just some ideas i've come up with from the time i spend in f2p. Tell me what you think please, wether its good or bad. I'm actually hoping that if enough people agree to this like they have to the new bank idea on this forum, we can send it to Jagex and make it happen. So lemme know what you think, and drop by World 3 or 29 Lumbridge to see me sometime if you want.

Expecting a good life because you're a good person is like expecting a bull not to charge because you're a vegetarian.

Would you people stop being so sick-minded? Dance is a funny emote, but when you think like that it makes you look immature.

i'm not bein sick-minded, i'm saying that the noobs are by making Dance into that and we should be able to report them for it. read the whole thing first

Yes, and so all the report happy people will click that button as soon as they see an emote... Bad idea :(

You're sick minded to actully think that. Just think "Oh ya, he's just dancing". Dont think "OMG he's ******* her!"

You never said anything about the "oh yeah oh yeah" thing. This would be reportable. http://kbase.runescape.com/lang/en/aff/runescape/viewarticle.ws?article_id=2090

3. Chatting of a sexual nature (aka cybering) is strictly forbidden in RuneScape and should someone approach you in game with this type of chat, please follow the instructions in our disruptive members guide and report the player to us.

But by simply dancing and not saying anthing I see no problem.

you're right it didn't mention it. my bad then. but all of the ones that do what i mention do say something along those lines. i'll edit the post now

Just muting the noob would stop the chat messages, which is what makes it slightly....distasteful

If a mod mutes the noob and he keeps doing it, no-one will think anything seedy, so problem solved

muting is the better of the two things.

A guy in my clanwas muted ( I not saying here if he deserved it or not- thats besidethe point) But we had to work out a way he could communicate with the clan- and we used an emote sign language.

Freezing emotes aswell would have madeit impossible for him- and he would have quit rs, That would not have been in jagex's interest.

wow it took you 2 lines to convice me your a jerk your self.

Why dont they make a big show off rule where all your stuff gets taken away for a day if u show off too much. :shame:

but anyway the easiest way to solve this is to edit the emotes thats are just plain wrong liek u said then they wouldent look sick and we wouldent have a problem.
