My range is currently 73.. I need help on which monster to train to get my range up the fastest and yes i will be power ranging (not picking up my arrows) just wondering which f2p monster to train on.

If you're not picking up arrows, kill the Lesser Demon in Wizard Tower a lot. It drives the mages crazy, and you don't get hurt by the Lesser Demon either. :lol:

 

 

 

If you're going to pick up arrows, and want to get even more, then range the Minotaurs of Stronghold Level 1 and the Ankous of Stronghold Level 4. Just make sure you take a 20-pack of Swordfish with you! :D

you could range the lessers in the karajma dungeon. good food nearby, and nice drops. to get your prayer up, you could also range the mossies on crandor.

Are you going to pick up the monster loot or are you going to let it rot?

 

 

 

The reason that I ask is that if you do it right,

 

picking up arrows is just as easy as picking up the loot...

 

 

 

I always liked ranging the Crandor Island Lesser Demons and Moss giants.

 

Both have "good" loot and have safe spots available.

 

 

 

I never bothered to bring any healing food since I never allowed them to hit me.

 

I only stopped to bank every few days when my non hi-alch loot filled up my inventory.

Well, if you ever want to raise Ranging again, you might regret

 

getting only 1/4 the exp that you could have gotten by picking up...

Since you are f2p I would suggest high HP monsters such as Lessers demons, Ice giants, and Moss giants in the non-wildy areas.

 

 

 

The Crandor Island lessers have safe spots on the North and East sides,

 

the Ice giants have a rock enclosed area you could try (not my first choice btw),

 

the Crandor Mossies have a safe spot against the North wall and just North of the western most Mossie.

 

The Varrock sewer Moss giants are never up long enough, lol.

Power range at black knights castle guards. Stand on the mountain and away you go. they respawn too fast for you to keep up with.

i train there, its around 1.6-2k every 5 minutes but i was wondering about d slaya, dont u get like def xp?

well i used around 600k arrows to get to my ranged level of 89 (don't know why it took so many :( )

 

 

 

Now i realise that picking up arrows gives around same xp per hour as not, so after recently buying 100k addy arrows, i have started to pick them up instead. Seriously, there is no need to powerrange, i found out the hard way!

I'm sticking my note of agreement on this. I have had tons of arrows before, and getting the kind of exp I wanted meant picking up my arrows.

i would say pick up your arrows, but use something better than bronze why don't ya? the higher level arrow you use the higher you hit and the less break. But what would i know, my range lvl is still 3 :oops:

You've been doing your homework though, I see. :)

 

I think you will do well on your range skill. :)

If you do decide to pick up your arrows then

 

use the Curse method to make it fast and easy.

im trying to find a decent spot too. the ankous dont have safe spots to my knowledge but they do drop some decent rune drops. (nats and laws)

 

 

 

lessers drop rune meds which are good alching material.

 

 

 

personaly id switch, get some food do ankous, when you run out range lessers in volcano using safe spots. good variety keeps you less bored too

great ideas ppl thx for the help i am still confused on whether i should power range or not, hearing some of ur opinions and should i use something higher than bronze. The only reason i chose bronze was they were the cheapest and made sense to be used for training.

if you are using bronze arrows, you won't hit as high or as often on lessers, i suggest weaker monsters and from areas where they can't attack, like hobgoblins near the crafting guild or even the monsters in the jail. Point is, i'd stay away from lessers.

yeah id use steel arrows or iron. for iron go to the stronghold and kill loads of the minotaurs,. they drop tonnes of itron arrows. once you have a few hundred then go and start killing lessers. at 71 range i can hit 10's with steel arrows so irons shouldt be to bad

I know this may be a little slower, but I've designed a super-strategy for ranging, especially between my experience and what I have heard here...

 

 

 

Start out with your bronze arrows in Stronghold Level 1... Kill Level 27 Minotaurs, which will cause them to drop iron arrows. Make sure to pick up the bronze arrows too. Once the bronze arrows are down to about 5 left because all the other bronze arrows have broken, sell those remaining bronze arrows to the Archery shop and get some gp for them, then head back to the Stronghold with your newly-acquired iron arrows and range a little more on the Level 27 Minotaurs. Once you have built up in iron arrows to around 1.5 times the number of bronze arrows you started with sometime back, then head to the 4th Level of the Stronghold and melee the Level 75 Ankous until they become non-aggressive. (This usually takes about 20 minutes, instead of their being always aggressive... Thanks for not making them a problem Jagex!!!) Make sure you've taken at least 16 or more Swordfish with you for this as food!!! Once the Level 75 Ankous are non-aggressive, then go to the safe spots (total of 2 with proper shot timing) and range off like nothing else into the Level 75 Ankous that you're with.

 

 

 

Hopefully, this will result in a ton of Ranging Levels gained for you, and I hope this helps!
