I'm working on a pixel and I've gotten the main characters done, but I'm wondering how people do the grass that looks like this:

 

 

 

 

 

 

Without it taking hours upon hours. I've searched all the tutorials on the FAQ, but none of them talk about this.

 

 

 

So, is there any easy way to do grass that looks extremely good? (Not using the spray can)

hehe i made like 2/3 of that grass :D :D

i always learn new techniques by zooming in as far as possible, and seeing how they did it..and just incorporate it..try practicing random grass..then go for what you want in the picture

99% of grass you see is about 3-4 random (green) colors all mixed together...

 

 

 

just zoom in and see what i mean there is rarely if ever a set pattern to grass otherwise it wouldn't look like the grass we have outside.. random!

How long did it take you to do that grass Despaxes?

I kinda used My_eggs grass in my sig, and put credit on the bottom...

i could maybe do a tut on how i did this type of grass.. i stopped doing sig after alot of people complaining

aww I have wondered what happened to that..it was so cool :cry: Doing grass is hard if you do it right, or you can jsut do green and shade that..easy but looks horrible. Ill see if I can find a tutorial....

well i started that grass and this well mine is around the mushroom to and to the right of it

 

it easy to be done

 

all i want to do is take a dark-green

 

underground

 

then start drawing grass thats just 1-2-3-4 pixels high in a lighter color

 

u would want those pixel looking a bit liek grass so try to make a virical patern in them

 

fix it op put some darker spots lighter spots...

 

then u take a green that is alot lighter and use this for highlights don't over use this colllor and don't make to big spots of it to again u wan't to make the pixel vertical using this color

 

 

 

u can do the same using 4 collors it easy

yea i had never done that kind of grass before..but it needed to match B2D's so i conformed haha

 

 

 

it was random placement of colors in vertical allignment like B2D said so it didntr take a long time at all

I did ask the owner, he said it's fine as long as i put credit in it [My_eggs]

Well, I took a shot at the grass using B2D's style of grass that was used on the 2nd collaboration sig.

Any C/C so far? As you can probably tell the only parts finished are the grass and the characters. I'll be fixing the tree, sky, and mountains in the next few days.
