August 22, 200619 yr I haven't yet began to get involved with construction. I managed to get to lvl 20 without even buying a house! I've only been using genies on it so far. Anways, on to my question... Butlers. I've heard that you have to pay them regularily, but I've also heard that it's a one time deal, 10k? and he's yours til you fire him. What I'm asking is, which is right? Or am I completely out to lunch on this one and it's done some other way? I'm going to be planning a run to 80 construction so this would help me greatly. As money is no worry for me, I'd still like to know the costs of the Butler/Demon butler services. I've got about 20m ready to waste away and this seems like the skill to do it on. Thanks. Jimmy
August 22, 200619 yr Im about 90% sure you have to pay him 10k (demon butler) every 10 commands, It might vary between butlers but its not a 1 time payment . You pay them frequently
August 22, 200619 yr Each servant has a different amount of commands you can give till they ask for their respective payments. If you plan on training with oak planks the best servant I've found to use is the cook. She brings 16 planks per load and asks for 3k every 10 trips which is very efficient for training. You can build 2 oak larders with the cook's load and then high alch until she brings the next load. You can get like 100k xp and alch like 500 magics per hour with her. I've also tried training with the butler but he brings a odd amount of planks back so your forced to make 4 items instead of 2(or go between rooms to make 3), and there is no time to alch between his trips because of this. He asks for 5k every 6 commands I believe. I'm interested to hear how other people decided to train.
August 22, 200619 yr Author I'm interested to hear how other people decided to train. As am I. I kind of interested in the alching thing too because by the time I get 99 fletching I'll have atleast 36k bows left with all my money left over. I'm sure I could squeeze in some 36k alchs between my construction runs... Another question about the cook, is how long does a trip approx. take for her to go to the bank and back? And thanks for showing your wisdom on this stuff, too.
August 22, 200619 yr Hmm, not exactly sure how long her trips take but I would guess between 10 and 15 seconds. Takes like 5 seconds to build the 2 larders and then you can alch like 3 or 4 times till she gets back. I'll do a quick run for ya and try to time it and post back in a sec
August 22, 200619 yr Here are the results of a few tests I did with the cook: -Time to take noted oak planks to bank and return: 20 seconds -Time to take un-noted oak logs to sawmill and return: 20 seconds -Time to make 2 oak larders (including removing them): 10 seconds -Time to alch 1 magic long: 3 seconds So if you have all your noted oak logs in inventory it takes 20 seconds to turn to un-noted, alching about 6 times while this happens, then 20 more seconds to turn to planks, another 6 alchs, and finally 10 seconds to build 2 larders and then alch 3 times, while waiting for your next 16 oak logs to come.
August 22, 200619 yr Author I'm just going to make her do the run to un-note my planks and come back. So, I should be able to do 6 larders and 9 alchs per minute? That seems decent enough. And within no time I'll have myself 80 construction. :
August 22, 200619 yr I always use the butler. I have to pay him every 8 trips but he is fast and I think the most economical. If money is no problem, use the demon butler. You can do up to 24 planks a trip (=3 larders). the butler does 2 1/2 larders a trip, so i alternate between building 2 or 3 larders each time. I also dont bother with trips to the sawmill. Get the butler to unnote your logs and planks them. btw, I'm 72 construction, it's taken me several mil to do. Oaks all the way. Save up your money for marble and gold leaf so you can have really nice stuff when you get to those high levels. One more thing, randoms are really annoying when constructing. Always make sure that you have a full inv of stuff before talking to the random event. you CANNOT drop stuff in building mode. Oh, and another thing, have a plan of how you want your house to look. I had to rebuild mine due to rubbish locations. e.g. make sure that your portal chamber is next to your altar, which is near the entrance. Decide which rooms you want too, you might find yourself with no rooms left to build a dungeon (20 rooms max) Best Barrows Chest: guth skirt, dh helm, dh axe, racks, gp (23/08/06); best tt reward: robin, guthix helm, guthix legs, nats, rune legs
August 22, 200619 yr The Butler charges for every 12 commands you give him. 6,924th to 30 hunting, 13,394th to 30 summoning, 52,993rd to 30 DivinationKiln Record (Post-EoC): W 25 - L 0, 14 Uncut Onyx, 8 Jad hits received (Best record: Two in the same kiln)Obby set renewed post update #2: 0QBD drops: 21 crossbow parts, 3 Visages, 1 Kites, 2 KitsMax Port Score [2205] Achieved: 27th April 2013 (World 2nd) Farmyard Rampage ranking: 12th, 50,000 Kills. August 22, 200619 yr I know I already answered your question on my thread but I see no harm in answering again and informing other viewers of this post. Since your main question has been answered, I'll tell you how I trained to 90 construction: In your inventory carry all your gp, your noted oak planks, saw, hammer. This leaves you with 24 inventory spaces, enough to make 3 oak larders. Now the Demon Butler (whom I use) can carry 26 planks. Use the noted oak planks on him and he will unnote them. He will give you 24 planks and have 2 remaining. Make TWO oak larders, then get the 2 oak planks back from the butler. Use more unnoted planks on him and while he's banking, make the third oak larder. This way you're never standing around doing nothing. The next two turns, he will have 4 and 6 oak planks remaining, so continue in the same way. The fourth time, however, he will have 8 oak planks remaining. So make THREE oak larders before getting the remaining 8 planks. Send him back to the bank and make the fourth larder. THen the process will repeat. Using this method, I was getting 120k - 160k xp per hour :) I hope it helps. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
