Need Help W/ Ebay Concern

Featured Replies

If you use ebay, please help me with this question. Well I bought something off half.chom, which is an ebay service. Online in my bank statements under pending transactions it has the item that I bought. Then it has 2 other $1 transactions from half.chom and ebay:

CKCD AUTH 08/28 EBAY $1.00

CKCD AUTH 08/28 HALF.COM $1.00

I have no clue what these are, and why I am being charged on top of my purchase.

Chances are they are transaction fees and or something to do with online services.

Most likely just verifying you're the owner of the account and whatnot I guess.

Ask your bank if you're not sure. Or better yet, ask eBay to verify what it is.

It's a transaction fee. Basically, Ebay has to verify that your credit card is valid, and the standard fee for that is $1.00. We have to do the same thing with new member accounts at Blockbuster; it's quite a common service charge.

It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and say the opposite.

Ohhhh so they aren't going to do that every time I buy something?

I have never had to pay that fee on ebay -- I had to pay when I signed up for paypal though to verify that the account was mine. I believe mine were $0.31 and $0.26.

But since it's such a small fee, I believe they are simply checking your account and will return the $2 to you (they put the $0.57 into my paypal after they charged me).

It should just be a one time thing. I buy stuff online all the time.

Paypal do that too. In order to verify your account when you add a new credit card they make two small transactions. You then type into paypal how much they were and your account is verified. I'm pretty sure they then credit your account whatever it was too.

Correct, they make two small deposits into your bank account.
I learned something today :)
