yttrium88
Today I was looking at comparisons between Opera and Firefox (my current browser) and all seemed well, until I saw one page that listed one of the advantages of Opera as being much faster at Java, which of course is what RuneScape is. I was just wondering if anyone can confirm this. I also wanted to know if that RuneScape thing that doesn't use a browser is even faster?
Cruiser
Opera may render the page faster, but the Java VM (what runescape runs on) will still be the same across all 3 browsers, leaving it's speed unaffected. The downloadable RS client from runescape.com is just a stripped down IE window that only allows access to runescape.com. It's handy for those of use that like to have a dedicated window for RS without the tool bars standard web browsers have.
____
Runescape is only going to be as fast as your connection. Although how quickly Java updates, dunno. Haven't really paid attention to that tbh.
Militaris
Was it Java or Javascript that opera was faster at? They are only very distanty related. I might be wrong there but I believe that Java is almost entirely independent from the browser which loads it. Java is like another program running inside of the browser. With regards to browser speed Opera is quite easily the fasest 'complete' browser around for most tasks. http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/browserSpeed.html
