September 1, 200619 yr I suspect most of you would not realize that the basketball world championships are currently under way. There is same amazing basketball currently being played. If you are a basketball fan I suggest you spend a few minutes watching (I generally watch the last 10 minutes of each game, the most exciting). I just finished watching the first semi-finals, between the exceptionally skilled and brilliant USA team who have been embarrassed by losing the last world champs and the Olympic gold, they were out to prove a point. They were up against the european champions Greece (never knew they played). It was a amazing game, one of the best I have ever seen. The final score Greece: 101 USA: 95 The next semi-finals is later today. It is Spain vs Argentina. Argentina is the current Olympic gold medalist and Spain has been in firm. Both teams are unbeaten going into this match. In the pre-tournament games Spain beat Argentina Twice... It is going to be another exceptional game. The finals and the play offs for 3rd/4th would also be great. It is 4 of the best teams up against each other.

September 1, 200619 yr Author I suspect most people outside of the USA would of been supporting the greeks. My team peaked before the world champs, finished 4th in their pool. Their first knock out game was against.... Argentina. In the previous world champs they finished 4th overall. (Partly luck, partly skill, and partly because they were unknown)
September 1, 200619 yr Yeah, the US outside shooting over the past two games (against Germany and Greece) have been pretty bad. I think the US plan for a 3 year team is still going well though. The Greeks have been playing together for several years while the American team was formed this summer. I'm just happy that Vassilis Spanoulis plays for my favorite team, the Houston Rockets :-)
September 1, 200619 yr Sorry your Kiwi's didnt go far Mili, i was secretly rooting for them :-$ USA put up a valient effort in that game, it's a shame they lost to a better fundamentally sound and more meshed together team. There were outclassed. Props to greece they played well and they deserved it.

Our team looked much like the 2005 draft class. Dwayne Wade, Elton Brand, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony. Don't worry, we'll win it in a few years hands down. Very very proud of this USA team after their poor performance in the 2004 Olympics. That was embarrasing. And as for you who root against the USA cause it's USA, be quiet, we don't root against anybody because of their countries name.

September 1, 200619 yr Actually i think the worst part of basketball games are the last 10 minutes cause all they do is call time outs and then theres commercial after commercial. I listen to ESPN Radio when im about to fall asleep and some nights they talk about the tourney. I have no real interest in basketball.

People support the other teams because they are the underdogs, and it is human nature to support them. The American players are simply brilliant and they should not of lost.
