Messiah2k02
I trained my pure mage on f2p. I wore rune armour for the negative magic effect an the cast spells like stun/weaken etc on chickens in the pen south of fally over the fence. you get decent xp for casting those type of spells, an due to high negative mage there is a good chance your spells will splash and do nothing (you get the magic xp but can keep casting till if effects the monster). ValaraZ
As you know there is a combat triangle in rs pking. mages own melee owns ranger owns mage. Now, in rsc it didn't matter much what u wore when you were casting spells (full rune plus god staff with charge, ownage). In rs2 (the version we're playing now) however mages need to wear robes, mystic, enchanted, split, skeletal or ahrims to get offensive mage stats (scroll down in weapon stats). If you wear rune armor your mage stats go down alot, meaning that it goes to negative as well defensive mage stats. The idea of "curse training" is that you get to cast curse several times before it actually hits anything. hence ppl wear full rune, no staff, no amulet etc. so that you don't get any offensive mage stat increase. this way the curse will "splash" aka fail every time. this allows you to cast again on same monster but if you hit him with curse you cannot do that again until it has recovered from curse. Best place i know to cast curse is port sarim jail since you have several monsters there to cast on if you do infact hit someone. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant: "If I live, I will kill you, If I Die, you are forgiven." Such is the Rule of Honor.
Messiah2k02
wearing armour reduces your magic bonus. if you wear rune armour you get a massive negative to your magic attack. this means its less likely u will hit! on certain spells tho u get xp just for casting regardless of whether u do any damage. monsters are immune to these spells for a while once the spell does effect them. this includes weaken/curse/bind or whatever Staff of BrOTHOr

sheepdean
wesr armour that lowers your magic bonus. this way, your spells dont hit (but you still get exp) Back by popular demand! And I guess I just wanted to tell you, as the light starts to fade, that you aree the reason, that I am not afraid, and I guess I just wanted to mention, as the heavens will fall, that we will be together soon if we will be anything at all. Curse gives same exp i think, succesfull or not. And alchs etc give the same exp every time. Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Doomster
Failed cursing: Casting curse in full metal armour (any will do), preferably with stronghold boots and dragonhide vambraces. Uses: 1 body, 2 water, 3 earth (use a staff for one element, but you may hit more) = 29 xp per throw, hit or miss. Body runes are cheap, or good runecrafting XP from level 20. The drawback, is that these are shot one by one from the spell menu. Also, as with alchs, superheats etc. you don't gain hitpoints. The lazy way to train magic is to strike the air, water, earth or fire wizards with their own element (which doesn't hurt them). Autocasts, but with less xp per shot than curses, also they DO still retaliate, so good magic defence and some food is needed to sustain training. RSBDavid
my method takes a lil longer but is way cheaper at only 15gp+air staff you can do wind strikes so if u have 150k thats 10k minds and thats around 60k xp or if u have higher lvl r/c you can buy ess at 25-30 ea and make your own minds.
