Defense against Infernal Mages

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm currently assigned to kill 153 Infernal mages for my slayer task. I've only killed about 16 and ate about 15 lobsters and 5 swordies. I'm looking for a way to but down on the damage I take. Here's what I'm wearing:

Head: Gnome wizard hat

Neck: Glory ammy

Body: Blue dhide

Legs: Blue dhide

Hands: Blue dhide

Feet: Steel boots

Shield: Elemental shield

Weapon: Dragon long

My stats are in my signature.

Is there anything that I should be wearing that will provide better magic defense? And should I keep meleeing them, or switch to range? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Looks good for armour, but try ranging them. Iron knives work well for me

good luck

dump the steel boots and get mage boots or ranger boots

edit: since they attack with magic, attacking them with range/mage/melee doesn't matter for safety. Therefore attack them best way possible for you.

Geaux Tigers ! Congrats on a great year !

Work up to lvl 70 range so you can wear blk hide. And yea, kill them with range.

I dont know if hes going to get 70 range just for one task. althouh it would be a good idea. thats what im currently doing =), my range and mage are lingering behind compared to my melee stats =)

No, I definitely won't be getting 70 range just for one task. I'll just slug it out and go fishing after. :)

if it's too difficult, just burg it

All I learned in life, I learned on Tip.it

if it's too difficult, just burg it

and if you didnt realise what he means, its burthorping it, i suggest not to do infernals at those levels, it can get nasty

Red dragonhide is efficient enough for these guys (and it' quite stylin' too :D ) Level 60 range isn't too bad to get to from 51, and infernal mages were my reason for going for 60 range. I used a cannon to jump through the levels but a cheaper option would be knives. It's worth it IMO, there are many slayer critters with magic based attacks.

Mystic boots offer +3 magic defense, wizard boots from treasure trails offer +4, lunar and ghostly shoes offer +2 magic defense, and snakeskin offers +1. So those are some options for ya as well. Not sure about ranger boots, don't own any.

Good luck.
