Flash can contain sound, use massive amounts of CPU, is less easy to moderate (ie. dimensions are not detectable by the server I don't think,) and can do a whole lot of other evil stuff that's just not cool.

Thumbs down for me.

AGREED. Double-thumbs-down on this one. I have seen flash adverts kill my CPU dozens of times over, and only because the advert loaded. -.-

The odd bit of flash is ok, but when people start making them a bit more advanced, putting in loads of action script or god forbid music and sound >.< then they just get stupid. They cannot be controlled like static images can so i very much doubt that these forums will ever allow embedable flash.

Way to throw security out the window :uhh:

And as was said before, they can't monitor the size of the images. I got 3 flash files running on my website, all 23kb each I believe. And they're used to load images that are only 130kb. Over the limit of tipit sigs yes, but the swf isn't. So it's impossible to enforce.

And there's also the fact that flash can do a lot of harmfull things if someone wants.

Well said, darkrick.

There are so darn many holes in Flash these days, and even worse, the corporation who first began this web plugin (Macromedia) has been bought up by Adobe, so we can no longer trust the quality of this plugin in any way, shape, or form. The number of problems are now likely to expand, and Flash may end up going totally south and dying off forever. :(
