Talking about the future?

Fabricant

Recommended Posts

Alright, this has happened to my brother and I for a long time now...

Whenever you start talking about an episode of the simpsons, its on the next day...

Because of this, we would make jokes saying that there is a person in our wall, called Joe, that listens to us and reports back to sky one...telling them what episode of the simpsons we want to watch...

Has something like this ever happened to anybody here in the tip.it community?

(Also, I am sorry if this isnt supposed to be here)

This happens to me a lot.

Whenever I watch TV I can tell what commercials will come on next.

Or sometimes, I will think of a random word or phrase and someone will say the exact same thing!

It's either a coincidence, or some form of precognition/telepathy is going on.

P.S. this sort of thing happens when I am daydreaming. P.P.S. Have you ever considering training this ability?

I think that this is called Deja Vu, when you see something and you subconsciously new it would happen. It is just a trick of the mind, don't worry about it.

I blame Fox. =;

The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak.

In the event that the weighted companion cube does speak, the Enrichment Center urges you to disregard its advice.

Actually, Deja Vu is the overwhelming sensation that you are reliving an event, conversation, or such that has happened before, exactly.

For the life of me I can't find a link to the possibility theory related to this topic on wikipedia or anywhere else, but I think I can explain it without one too...

During the day, you literally think about tens of thousands of things, both unconscious and conscious. Your brain gets a lot of stimuli by viewing TV, reading newspapers, etc. and occassionally the thing you're just thinking about will very likely show up on the news, a TV series etc.

But yeah, I bet it happens to a lot of people. It happens to me all the time. I'd read about a strange word I've never heard of in my life in an old dusty book I found in my bookcase, and a day later the word would show up in a newspaper. But I strongly think there's nothing 'supernatural' attached to it necessarily... It's all about possibilities.

I think our minds just randomly release this sensation to make us believe we can see into the future. :-w

I get that feeling all of the time, but I can never say that it will happen before. I never say "I had a dream about what is going to happen today" because I only remember I dreamt about it just as it happens.

Strange, that.

I agree with you to some extent.

There are some thoughts that can be explained as deja vu.

I'm not sure of the name, but there is also psychological condition where people intentionally look for patterns in everyday objects.

However there is also substantial evidence of telepathy and precognition among humans and animals. Where subjects were able to perform this time and time again under scientific conditions.

I'm not saying you're wrong however.

I on the other hand must disagree with the argument of evident telepathy or precognition. It is strongly regarded as pseudoscience by the majority of serious scholars and scientists and human subjects have not been proven to perform telepathy under scientific conditions. You might want to read more about it. I am very interested in it but from a factual viewpoint it does not exist (or can't be yet proven to exist)

Not yet, my friend.

But so much of science is yet to be proven, or even discovered.

Also, the main reason why the majority of the scientific community is skeptical of telepathy is because very few so called "psychics" were able to perform this ability for long periods of time. As it said in the wikipedia article, this was thought to be caused by boredom.

There have been, however, many documented cases of psychic abilities that suggest that there may be some truth to ESP.

i believe an appropriate phrase is "speak of the devil" (and he shall appear)

its an expression for when you talk about someone, and there they are, or like in the original example, you talk about a simpsons episode, and there it is the next day.

i have a double-example, which im not really going into lol.

first i read this thread, then ~3 minutes later, i talked to my GF online, and found out something which we had talked about jokingly yesterday or 2 days ago, has happened by accident.

thus the example of reading this thread, and then immediately after, it happened to me, is also one of these speak of the devil incidents. LMAO thats really random that it happened right after i read this

i have this annoying phenomenon where if i think about something it won't happen or the opposite will happen. it works at least 90% of the time. now i doubt it holds any ground or if its feasible whatsoever, but it still happens :-s

and no, i can't trick my mind into thinking the opposite thing to get what i want b/c i've found that i'm still thinking about what i want in the back of my head...lol

I just want to add that the "long time" is actually over a year...and Joe is still in the wall...

Anyway, I have had occasions where there is a game of chance, like one of those ball under cups ones. I would think of the correct choice but I dont follow it...so I chose another and fail...

Also, I have looked towards the phone, or something else, and it would do something....

Example: I have looked at the telephone and it rang...

That has happened a few times....but it usually happens when I am doing other things, like watching television.....I would look towards the telephone, for no reason, and it would ring.

It probably is just coincidence...but coincidences dont happen more than 3 times.....or do they?

for the games of chance.. well its a game of chance, so of course its going to be the one you chose originally but changed from, sometimes.

i usually look towards my mobile before it rings (generally because it causes my speakers to make funny noises) maybe its something like that that means you are unconsciously aware that your phones about to ring.

coincidences happen as many times as they like :-)

Hehe, it is funny how things happy like that, like with episodes. I really can't explain it, I'd like to think it's more than a coincedence and hey! Maybe it is!

Alright, the other night, I had this dream in which I was watching a movie that I had never seen before.

Last night, I went over to my boyfriend's dorm and he says, "Hey. There are these two movies I would like to watch with you." so he puts a DVD in and it turns out, we were watching Clerks... I thought "Wow... I've never seen this movie... but it looks soooo familiar!" and then I remembered my dream.

I remember seeing him on the discovery chanel....

Anyway, I just seem to look over in its general direction....its strange

I have also looked at the toaster and microwave....and each time I did, the toast came out of the toaster and the microwave made ping.....but I didnt see the dials, or whatever they are called, on the microwave....

I dont know....sometimes I am able to predict things...and then other times I cant...

Also, I remember having a dream.....but on the day before the dream, I threw my frisbee (SP?) onto the roof of a house...

Anyway, I remember the things from the dream. I remember getting up, going downstairs, going outside, picking up the frisbee and going back inside.

When I woke up, the frisbee was beside me

EDIT: I forgot to mention that none of my family said that they got the frisbee for me....
