September 27, 200619 yr So, story ahead: I was playing anarchy online on my new character. I'm still a good bit of a "newbie" to the game and I decided to make my new guy. Well, anyways I was asking questions in the newbie channel about what weapon to use as my guy, and said I was using a two handed edge (blade weapon) on my guy. I than got a PM from someone saying "thats what I use too" and said he was using the same combo as me (i'm going to duo with a character called a "martial artist" and he did too). Well, anyways we kept talking and he started to talk about he has a bunch of pretty good lowbie weapons. As he continued on he said that he could try and fit me into these weapons. (aka "twink" me into them). I'm going to stop for a second and explain twinking. You see, in anarchy online you can get certain implants which increse skills of yours. They take a certain ammount of skill (in your primary skills) to put on. The idea is that many players will buff you and allow you to put these implants on, alowing you to use higher equipment (as it's all based off of stats and not levels). So the guy tells me to meet him in the "newland". I figured that was the area off of the newbie island, so I told him i'd meet him at the basic shop. Well he hops on his other character and I soon realize he isn't there. I pm his character and tell him that I was at the Rome basic shop. Turns out that he was actually in a different area a bit aways from rome! At this point I was a bit dissapointed, I mean, I couldn't expect him to go all that way! Well, he told me he'd head over there, all the while chating with me and giving me tips on the game. When he got over there we than began to get my character worked out. Through a combonation of buffs I was able to equip some pretty good implants on my character. I than got other implants that wern't directly tied to the 2HE (2 handed edge) weapons. So finally we drew near an end. He buffed me with a final buff that gave me "+20 2HE stat" and I was able to equip his weapon. The entire process probaly took over an hour or two! And all of this, from a random stranger I had not met before. He had gone out of his way, traveled a good distance and had given me a sword and plenty of kind advice. Anyways, I thought i would share this. It's not often these day's you find someone like this. What really got my attention about it is that he had gone out of his way and took a good chunk of his playing time to help me out. It just isn't quite the same as that person who randomly gives something. This guy "randomly" gave me something, but than helped me equip it and helped me work the rest of my build out and gave me advice. Deffinitly a good experience. So, have any of you ever met a simular person online? Someone who went out of their way to help a complete stranger? I've got to say that I didn't expect it to happen to me (i'm usualy a bit.. colder... in online games sometimes, mostly ones I know a lot about) but this guy didn't just shrug me off as some newbie. Deffinitly made me think twice about my attitude (at least in that game  )
September 27, 200619 yr I played Maple Story for a good 1 month. (pretty short eh?) The first thing that struck me is that during my first week when I was around lvl 10-15 (pretty low) a lot and I mean ALOT of people gave me free stuff. Idk if they want to do it just so i can give them a raise on their 'fame level' (which I did give them) or if they're just kind like that. Either way, most of the people I met while playing were pretty kind to newbies on countless occasions. :-k They completely caught me off guard with their charity. I think its that we who plays/played RS comes to expect bad things from people on games like these. September 27, 200619 yr Author Yeah some games have different communitys. Kind of odd hearing that from Maple story, Heard it has a younger community.
September 27, 200619 yr what is the game your talking about? is it free to download and such? lol thats kinda like when somone asked me a question on how to do dragon slayer, i ended up giving him a rune scimmy to fight it, and help him and go with him in the quest step by step:P "If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. September 27, 200619 yr I do it all the time. 8-) To me, all games are pretty much pointless after you've reached a certain level. In RS I did pretty much nothing but chill with newbies and help them with quests after I hit level 100 (which was a lot back then but nothing now). I found out while playing MMORPG's, especially people from Russia are friendly. They'll literally spend hours helping you when you don't know a damn about the game, and they don't even ask for any reward. On the contrary, I found out people from USA were in general the least helpful and social. Not to say I didn't make many american friends, because I did especially in Lineage. It's just that a lot of them are immature jerks, often aged 15 or less but even in the higher age groups they tend to have usually rough behavior.
September 27, 200619 yr i looked at the screenshots.. whats with the hald naked people? :uhh: "If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. I played enough to know that. I used to play Ragnarok Online on a private server (if talk of this is not allowed, please tell me, I will gladly edit it out) and I don't know what it was, but the community there was stunning. Everyone was so nice, quick to help out. Great people. "We'll bring the sexy back to judging >_>." --Nadril Bleh, once I get off my lazy bum and go to Imageshack, there will be a picture here.
September 27, 200619 yr Yeah probably, but giving them fame was the least I could do in return either way. :-k Oh and I agree about RO. Ive been only hearing good things about their payer community. September 27, 200619 yr Well.. you've met me and I'm THE nicest person online. This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.
September 27, 200619 yr Author Well.. you've met me and I'm THE nicest person online. You've got a point there. :-w
September 27, 200619 yr I think we might have missed an important factor here... Was yur character female by chance? :| Cause... *cough* Yeah... September 27, 200619 yr ^^ Sweet, but you're character has extremely broad shoulders. How is the gameplay on that game? Sounds pretty cool. Trix.--quit WoW as of 12/07Thank you 4be2jue for the wonderful sig and avatar!

Shame I don't play anymore. Chances are those items were for low level only and under-average.
September 27, 200619 yr Author ^^ Sweet, but you're character has extremely broad shoulders. How is the gameplay on that game? Sounds pretty cool. Yeah if you would have seen him without a robe you'll know he isn't a human. He's pretty much like a juggernaut-type deal, really big and strong. :) . It's a great game, hard to learn though. The learning curve is almost completly vertical (I.E you learn most of what you need to know in the first few levels, and that's hard. Than you are constantly learning throughout the game).
September 29, 200619 yr In my own experience i've been blessed to meet extremely kind people in my gaming experiences. I've played World of Warcraft, Starwars galexies and of course runescape. I would have to say the people were the kindest to me when the games first started up and everyone was relatively a newb. So anyways,I simply pass on whats been given to me. :D I love helping people out! Actually half the time I do it b/c I'm bored. lol My PoetryA short story: THE INTRUDERA Short Story:Jerrel the Jester
September 29, 200619 yr Noticed that the first day I switched from RS to EQ a few years ago. Last.fm: http://www.last.fm/user/Aaronm14/MY FAVORITE BAND:http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... d=64310717And the bible is the big book of lies, call me a racist if you must.
September 29, 200619 yr Author EQ or EQ II? In everquest II there were nice people.. but no one talked unless it was to another guildie :? .

I played enough to know that. When I use to play I would sometimes just do stuff to help out newbies, even the ones who weren't high enough level to fame. I'm a big fan of random acts of kindness in MMOs. Without raks(as I will now reffer to it as) communities suck. They don't get involved and usually fizzle out rather quickly. Of course down the road after a community is set-up raks tend to disappear and selfish people who are only out for themselves tend to appear in the thousands, despite that they will never reach anything notable to a majority of the community.
