Looking for Artist to Develop Game Graphics

Commercial games like RuneScape can be good entertainment, but making games is generally much more fun and benificial. An older friend of mine did rather badly in school, but got into a very competative colledge mainly because he helped develop a (used to be) (somewhat) popular online game which he bragged about in his diploma. He was a very good graphic artist, but unfortunately he has moved on to the gaming industry preparation and left me behind as an indie programmer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I have been programming for several years, particularly game writing. I use DarkBasic, Python, some C and C++, and a few other less common languadges. I consider myself a very capable programmer, but have never been good at game graphics. I know there are some nice artists here, and I am looking for one who would like to go into developement with me.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I particularly need an artist that can make graphics, both the characters and the backgrounds, like those in the following screenshots:

I'm very interested, but I must say they only experience I've had with game making is storylines, character development, and those types of things. So if you knew enough to get someone on the right track I'm interested.

I can't personally mentor you in game graphics, that really isn't my field. I can, however, re-direct you to some tutorials focused on game graphics if you'd like.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

uhm is there any payment involved

 

 

 

RuneScape payment or real cash? There will be no RuneScape payment, all my RS posessions have been put into banner requests. As for real cash, I prefer to release my works as public domain software, but if you want to try to sell a game I'm willing to give sales a shot.

Well, I'm just wondering what program you're wanting the graphics to be made in? Are these going to be sprites or 3d models that will require animation? That kind of thing.

If you just want to make a few backgrounds or sprites, feel free to submit anything to me via PM or other contact, and say how you would like to be credited if I use it. This topic is mainly regarding long-term artists that will develop imagery for multiple games and want a lot of credit.

Sorry lemad, the results were far from what I expected. I took samples of all the good banners and presented them to the members on the forum, and they liked the animation best, but they took out the animation (just the first frame). I know that probably wasn't so great from the point of view of an experienced graphic artist, but you have to take into consideration that most of them don't know much about graphic art, so all those qualities of simplicity that disgust you, they wouldn't notice. I think they mainly liked the background, it fit very nicely.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So yeh, that guy won the GMC banner competition. The TOD banner competition was won by:

 

 

 

-Chicken

 

 

 

-This guy who made the really neat Kennodo banner with really cool model, forget name

 

 

 

-This guy who made a bunch of nice backgrounds and a website for me

i can make what you need... of course u need to supply me with wat u need...=D
