well, if it works the same way as law running then...

 

 

 

You bring 27 ess to the altar... Trade a person who says "open"

 

 

 

They trade you how ever many airs they get per ess and give you 27 noted ess... Rinse and repeat.

Typically an air crafter there will give 2000-2500 gold + 25 Noted Ess for 25 unnoted essence.

It is for the same reason that law crafters give back laws. The crafters are getting much faster xp than they would if they had to bank so they give something back in return. Since most runners don't want to go through the hassle of selling air runes they take cash instead. (Even though the airs may be worth more).
