Formal Garden Layout Guide

Recommended Posts

Firstly, this guide is nothing big, it's tiny, but Tip.it please feel free to use any information in this article, so long as you give me credit for it

OK, this guide has been made by me becasue I realised when I hit level 64 construction, and I needed to plant flowers, that the Layout and the manual guide on RuneScape as a bit ambiguous, and becasue of this, it becomes hard to budget towards how much money you'll be needing. That's why I've drawn up this simple diagram:

formalgarden.jpg

As you can see from this diagram, certain parts are highlighted in a certain colour. The Golden Rule is this:

"If a flower is planted in a space, then all the spaces with the same colour as the planted space will also have the same flower placed in them."

Therefore, by my maths (And I'm pretty good it), If I wanted to fill one JaGex (square) full of (for example) Sunflowers and Daffodils I would need:

2 x Bagged Sunflower = 2(5,000) = 10,000 = 10k

2 x Bagged Daffodils = 2(10,000) = 20,000 = 20k

10k + 20k = 30k for a garden of Full Sunflowers and Daffodils.

Hedging and Fencing

Dead easy rule here:

"The appropiate materials (as highlighted in the manual or the Construction Table on Tip.it) of a Hedge or a Fence will surround the whole perimeter of the square"

In other words, the materials that the Table says is enough for one square of Formal Garden

Conclusion

Just remember the diagram above and these 2 rules:

1) "If a flower is planted in a space, then all the spaces with the same colour as the planted space will also have the same flower placed in them."

2) "The appropiate materials (as highlighted in the manual or the Construction Table on Tip.it) of a Hedge or a Fence will surround the whole perimeter of the square"

I hope that helps all ambituous Constructors such as myself out there :)

I said it was short and I know it ain't good. I'm more into actually playing the game. It's more just a note to other players. I didn't even know guides were scored... shows how much I know.

Hope it helps someone anyway...

We don't normally score guides as far as I know.

However, I am interested in pursuing this info for addition to our Construction Guide, if indicated.

1. Could you please explain to me just a little bit? If planting one colour of flowers makes all four circled spots the same, then why do you need to plant two of the bagged items?

1b. Oh, I think I get it. You are saying that you only plant a total of FOUR plants in this garden, and they are replicated diagonally across the garden. Tell me if that's not right.

2. When you say "square", do you mean the square marked on your picture, or do you mean the Formal Garden "room" square?

it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.

Firstly, as I said feel free to use any information IÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve given.

In answer to your questions: (this screenshot may help to explain)

formalgarden2.jpg

1) Yep, you only need FOUR bagged plants to fill up a whole room-full of garden. In the screenshot above, this required only TWO plants (2 sunflowers in this case), but I would another TWO plants if I was to fill the north-eastern and south-western corners of this garden. However, the two plants I have used (if I had a higher construction level) could have been different, I could have used a sunflower in the Big space, and marigolds in the small space for example (in the picture above, the plants numbered ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâ1ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ could be different to the plants numbered ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâ2ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢). So therefore, you donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t necessarily need 2 plants of the same type. My maths about the 2 sunflowers was my own personal choice, as you can see from that screenshot. I realise I might not have explained that bit quite well.

2) When I said square, I mean the square surrounding a room, as shown on the above picture in BLUE. In this example, 10 limestone blocks making a Stone Wall would fill the whole of this blue square.

Does that answer your questions or do you want me to try and explain again in more detail/clearer?

If you want, I can make another screenshot that will make things easier to understand, if you tell me what detail you want in the picture. ::'

Your pic is super, thanks very much.

Um. If it's not too much of a financial sacrifice (lol), could you plant something different in the two spots?

And then number them A, B, C and D or make them match whatever the stupid build spot ID is in the game, lol?

That would be super.

I would if I could, but I'm only level 64, and at that level I can only plant sunflowers. Plus I only have 22k in the bank at the mo, so I can't really even afford to plant anything else. Sorry... maybe you could use someone of a higher construction level, and with more money to make a picture like that. I've only just reached the capability to make yew longs, so I'm way too strapped for cash.
