He refers to the kind of shading u used.

 

 

 

When u shade by square shapes like u did (my english doesn't help here sorry) that is when you shade left to right but also up to down (and vice-versa) by vertical/orizontal lines , u can see that kind of diagonal line that actualy makes the shading look like there's a web botton or something like that more than a grass field.I personaly used that on my Oergg's sig to make the cannon side "bumpy", but that's the only way u could suggest you to use this tecnique. I strongly recomand not to "gradient" shade things like grass or bumped surfaces (like threes, water). Simply go on with some texture or fuzzy shading. The effect will be better.
