Barrows with Proselyte Armor?

I noticed that most barrows guides recommend using monk's robes for brothers that you pray against. However, Proselyte gives a greater prayer bonus even if it lowers magic attack. Therefore (considering that all of the brothers but Ahrim have low magic defence) shouldn't wearing Proselyte be more effective than monk's robes? Vs. Verac, should I pray melee with rune platebody and legs or pray melee with initiate? I plan to kill most of the brothers with slayer dart and range Ahrim.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also... when ranging Ahrim (in red dragonhide, level 68 ranged and level 72 magic), is it necessary (or advised) to pray?

Monks robes are recommended because the small pray bonus doesn't make as much of a difference as maging in armor does. Sure, you will still hit, but robes will be much more accurate.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You don't have to pray against ahrim, at least not in black hides. I suppose you wouldn't have to with red either :?

prayer bonus does not matter - the barrows (underground) sap 10-12 point of prayer every couple of seconds, and the prayer lost normally is nothing compared to that drain

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

that is why most people just pray with mage robes on, or just tank the melee bros with armor but without prayer

Actually Prayer Bonus makes a MAJOR difference. If your prayer can survive one more drain with prayer bonus, that means you will use less prayer pots because you wouldnt need to pot as often. Mage armor is a complete and utter waste of inv space and weight, because it doesnt make a difference on the melee brothers (not 1 bit, the only difference you will find is with Karil).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Use of food will allow you to tackle ahrim without prayer, however i do NOT recommend anything OTHER than Karil's armor when doing this (black d hide still isnt good enough), because your mage level is rather low (at 90 i still find ahrim too hard for me to tackle without prayer, but i dont use food for my runs). I would still sip 1 dose of prayer and kill him that way without potting again.
