-Everyone has to respect each others opinion. Otherwise they get a warning.

Considering that some opinions inherently infringe on others that will not be possible.

You don't have to respect the opinion, but you have to respect the person to have that opinion

I agree. Humans are all equal in essence and dignity. Ideas are not all equal in value.

I agree with less lockage, and more public humiliation for immature flamers.

I agree. A mod should feel like "oh, im gonna go mod the board, see how many flamers i can humiliate" :D. I think thats the attitude we need around here (im not being sarcastic.)

I think it would be interesting if the admins gave us a list of a few people they thought would be suitable OT mods and we got to vote.

I think that we should vote for an Awesome OT user of the month.

I also think we shouldn't delete flames/spam because it gives the annoying spammer/flamer a chance to pretend it never happened. If something was really offensive - the mod should just edit the post and write in some fancy mod color, "I am an obnoxious flamer who doesn't know how to control what I say. This post is here to let everyone know that I was so rude a moderator had to come and edit my post like my mommy."

We do happen to keep track of those. There's more to the forum than meets the eye.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying... could you explain it a little better? :P

Perhaps they split such posts off to a hidden forum, which only the mods can see. Each user has his own thread of immature posts, which the mods and admins use to pass judgement on that person. Once one of those threads reaches a certain number of posts, the user is dealt with.

Right. I've always assumed that's the case. I think, though, allowing everyone to see and remember who acted like a fool would be beneficial. And I'm saying this knowing full well that there were some flame wars I'd be embarressed to see from my past. Some, though - I'd be tickled to see. Some of my more clever posts have been deleted... :P

Nothing is ever deleted on the forums(apart from market board posts), just moved to somewhere you can't see it.

I want to see a SPECIFIC moderation team. This team can only mod for OT and no other mod can mod for OT with the exception of elite admins. I also want the mod team to be extremely active and participate in all discussions like they weren't mods.

That's something very important. Some mods manage it, many don't.

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

It's also something very difficult. A mod involved in a heated debate may be tempted to abuse his power. While I agree mods needs to be involved in discussions just like regular users, we need to choose people who can do so without it getting in the way of their job.

As far as mods go, I think that our mods are very good. I'm sure I havnt agreed with some decisions by a few of them but over all I think they do a great job not abusing their power.

I think that the boards are alright right now and, with the exception of a little spam, it doesnt seem to need many changes.
